Jennifer Aniston opens up about heartbreaking IVF journey after years of constant pregnancy rumours

She said the ship has sailed when it comes to motherhood

Jennifer Aniston has opened up about her struggle to become a mother and explained that she has tried to have IVF on a number of occasions.

The Friends star, 53, has finally acknowledged the many pregnancy rumours that have circulated over the years, as well as the pressure from the public to become a mum.

However, what fans of the actor didn't realise as they were speculating was that she was taking the 'challenging road' of IVF in secret trying to make parenthood happen.

She told Allure in a new interview that she did try and have a family, but unfortunately it wasn't on the cards for the star, who is best known for playing Rachel Green in Friends.

"I was trying to get pregnant," Aniston revealed. "It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road."

She said she tried every possible suggestion in a bid to become a mother and none of it sadly worked - a situation made harder by the 'years and years and years of speculation.'

"It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it," she added.

The actor ultimately explained that she would have 'given anything' for things to be different, but she's accepted that the 'ship has sailed'.

As a woman's fertility decreases over time, Aniston wishes that she had got her eggs frozen when she was younger, as it could have made all the difference.

"I would've given anything if someone had said to me, 'Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favour.' You just don't think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed," she said.

Aniston then implied that she has now concluded her journey to potential motherhood and said that she has 'zero regrets' about trying.

"I have zero regrets," she said. "I actually feel a little relief now because there is no more, 'Can I? Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.' I don't have to think about that anymore."

As well as discussing her difficult IVF journey, Aniston put to bed rumours that her and Brad Pitt's relationship failed because she 'wouldn't give him a kid.'

"I just cared about my career. And God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child," she said. "And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid. It was absolute lies. I don’t have anything to hide at this point."
