Ashley Graham breaks silence after 'rude' Hugh Grant Oscars interview

The 35-year-old model had the best response to Hugh Grant's less than gentlemanly behaviour on the Oscar's red carpet

After her awkward red-carpet encounter with Hugh Grant, model and presenter Ashley Graham had the best response to his rude behaviour.

The 35-year-old interviewed the Love Actually star at the Oscars on Sunday night (12 March), with Grant being less than helpful when he was asked standard awards ceremony questions.

Despite the veteran actor being fairly obnoxious throughout, Graham didn’t let the incident phase her and has been praised by fans for her calmness during the difficult interview.

Having spoken with several other stars during the glitzy red carpet, Graham had hoped that the interview would be a quick, light-hearted piece before the 62-year-old headed inside.

However, Grant clearly wasn’t game and can be seen visibly grimacing as the model referred to him as a ‘veteran of the Oscars'.

Things rapidly went downhill from there, as Graham asked the former heartthrob about his ‘favourite thing’ about the Oscars.

He bluntly responded: “Well, it's fascinating... the whole of humanity is here. It's vanity fair."

Not realising that this was a reference to the novel by William Thackeray and not the post-Oscars party hosted by Vanity Fair, Graham continues to ask him about whether he had any favourite nominees.

While most actors would have gone along with the inoffensive question, Grant gives a toe-curlingly curt reply and tells her: “No one in particular.”

Desperate to regain control of the interview, Graham then asks what he’s wearing - hoping that his tux was on loan from a designer.

Instead, Grant dryly responds: “My suit.”

In a final bid to make the most of the interview, the former swimwear model then asks about the actor’s cameo in Netflix’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and whether he had fun on set as he starred alongside Daniel Craig.

"Well I'm barely in it. I was in it for about three seconds” Grant bluntly says.

Grant has come under fire for his treatment of Graham.

While many of us would be shaken by the actor's behaviour, Graham had the best response to the intense interview.

As she flew out from LAX Airport, the model was asked by TMZ if she had been offended by Grant’s less than gentlemanly manners.

Without missing a beat, she replied: “You know what, my momma told me to kill people with kindness, so there you go."

Her polite response has not only proved how much of a class act the presenter is, but also won her a lot of praise from fans - many of whom said Graham was finally getting the publicity she deserved.

One person wrote: “She did awesome. He was just really miserable for no good reason. I understand that interviews can get tiresome and repetitive but if you're going to do the red carpet, do your job and ACT like you want to be there.”
