Azaylia died in April 2021 at the age of eight months after a battle with acute myeloid leukaemia.
The Ex on the Beach star, 31 and his former partner, 33, used social media to share intimate clips of Azaylia with her family as well as her hospital trips which inspired people across the world to campaign for an end to childhood cancer.
Azaylia would have turned two on Wednesday (10 August) and to commemorate their daughter’s life, Ashley posted an adorable birthday card with an illustration of Azaylia wearing an orange top – the colours representing Leukaemia awareness – and a lion, Azaylia's mascot.
“Happy Heavenly 2nd Birthday Azaylia,” he captioned the post. “I long for you.”
Azaylia’s mum, Safiyya, also shared a touching tribute to her daughter and said she is ‘the best gift God could of given me’
She said: “Heavenly 2nd birthday for my beautiful daughter Azaylia.
“The proudest moment of my life was this time two years ago I was drinking in every moment of pure love with you Azaylia, the labour pain the emergency C-section was all worth it you are the best gift god could of given me.
“When I saw you I was so excited to finally be a mummy to you, I miss you deeply this pain I fight through, it’s your strength you’ve given me that can allow me to stay here on earth to continue your legacy, I will always love you, u may be in heaven and I maybe on earth but we are always connected ALWAYS.”
Azaylia I wish you was here on earth to celebrate this birthday i no your watching from heaven and I hope you no how much I love you.
“Happy birthday Princess.”
Ashley and Safiyya launched the Azaylia Foundation last year in their daughter’s memory to in a bid to help individual child cancer patients and bring equipment to the UK which is not readily available on the NHS. This means families will no longer have to raise large amounts of money for their child to have specialist treatment.
The Foundation’s official Instagram page shared a post featuring a poem and a collection of clips during Azaylia’s life as well as one of the charity runs Ashley finished.
One viewer commented: “This baby touched the hearts of so many. Happy heavenly birthday princess”.
Let’s go, champ!
