The 1975's Matt Healy divides opinion after checking fan's ID before kissing her

People are flooding to social media to weigh in on whether or not the 1975's Matty Healy kissing a fan was ethical.

Now, I can't deny that when I was 14 years old I didn't bop along to Chocolate pretty much on the daily and was quite obsessed with The 1975.

But whether or not I was so obsessed that I would've snogged lead singer Matt Healy - no disrespect to him, he's a gorgeous man - is questionable.
However, one fan decided she didn't just want to pucker up for Healy while attending one of his performances, but also wanted the singer to be her first kiss.
And Healy's reaction has left social media users divided.
In the video, Healy can be seen checking the girl's identification to make sure she's not underage.
After checking with his security too, the singer then hops off stage and makes his way over to the pink-haired fan who is eagerly awaiting him.
Before leaning in, Healy checks with the fan if she's 'ready' - asking her two times and confirming it's her first kiss - before going in for the smooch.
Some viewers of the footage have been quick to condemn Healy for kissing a fan.
One said: "It’s a completely innapropriate power balance. There’s an understood wall between performer and artist and this completely shatters that wall in a pretty dangerous way."
"Am I the only one who feels like he's starting to build a defence for himself in case anything comes out?
"'But your honour, my client CLEARLY asked for ID whenever he engaged with fans. Here is video evidence...'" another said.
A third reasoned: "I don’t think it’s that big of a deal, but I’m kind of worried if her fandom is healthy, like it feels super weird to me to have saved your first kiss until 22 just to kiss a celeb you don’t know and probably won’t meet again."
However, other fans praised Healy for his thorough checking of the fan's ID and also for asking for her consent before kissing her.
Another said: "Am i the only one who doesn't think this is that big of a deal?? it's not like they're dating or getting married or anything, she wants a kiss from an artist she likes and she's obviously old enough to decide that for herself."
A final resolved: "I am absolutely open to be corrected about it but since the girl is an adult and gives her consent(not only she approached him and asked for the kiss, but he asked for consent again before he gave it to her),what is the problem with this?"
