Raven Symoné fans have been left shocked after the star revealed that people have been pronouncing her name incorrectly for decades.

Sharing a video on TikTok, Raven, who starred in Disney show That's So Raven, revealed the correct way to pronounce her name, explaining it's totally different to what fans initially thought.

Explaining how her name is pronounced, Raven said: “It’s pronounced See-mon-ye." Meanwhile, a voiceover said: “No, it’s not” before she mimed in response: “Yes, it is.”

People were in shock over the clip, with many believing Raven's name was pronounced 'suh-mone'.

One person wrote: "I apologize for pronouncing your name incorrectly for the last 20 or so years."

While another said: "WHATTTTT????"

And a third added: "Wait I've have I been pronouncing it wrong this whole time? someone do a video saying it plz."

Many were surprised considering Raven had pronounced her own name as 'suh-mone' in Disney ads over the years.

"But i don’t remember you saying it like that in the little 'I’m raven symoné and you’re watching Disney channel'," said one fan.

And another added: "I’m always 100% on your side no matter what, but on the Disney channel, you’ve always said, 'seh-moan'."

While a third wrote: "What abt the 'hi I’m raven symone and you are watching Disney channel'???"

Raven later addressed why her name had been pronounced incorrectly in the adverts, and why she never changed it.

“I didn’t do that because at a very young age I was told to tell people my name was Raven-Symoné and it just never left my body,” she said.

“Except when I go to French-speaking countries. I’m like, ‘Yeah, it is spelled that way and that’s how it should be pronounced.’ But coming here, to where I’m living, Raven-Symoné is just fine.”

She also added that since she shared the correct pronunciation, people had been 'real mad' that she hadn't pronounced it correctly on the Disney ads.

“So, yes. I don’t trip over it. I don’t correct people, but the correct spelling of my name is pronounced Raven-Symoné, but you can call me Raven-Symoné. I’m not tripping over it.” the actor continued.

But fans have promised to pronounce it correctly from now on, with one writing: "No it’s Raven Simon-ay from here on out sis.. we got you."
