Peppa Pig has introduced its first same-sex couple.

The children's TV show, which has been running since 2004, tells the everyday stories of Peppa and her friends and family, including Suzy Sheep and Danny Dog.

Now, the show has introduced a new same-sex couple - and viewers can't stop praising the popular programme.

In the ep, which aired on Monday (5 September) morning, Penny Polar Bear can be seen talking about her family and drawing a sketch of two female polar bears in dresses for her teacher.

"I’m Penny Polar Bear. I live with my mummy and my other mummy," says Penny.

"One mummy is a doctor and one mummy cooks spaghetti. I love spaghetti."

The family can then be seen sitting down to eat their spaghetti together.

Viewers at home are loving the introduction of Penny's mummies, with one person writing on Twitter: "YES! Children's television show Peppa Pig has introduced a same-sex couple for the first time. Penny Polar Bear draws & talks about her two mummies."

While another said: "Loving the news that ⁦@peppapig⁩ has introduced a same sex couple."

And a third added: "This is great. Nice to see toddlers tv keeping it real."

Last year, it was announced that Peppa Pig had been renewed for six more years, meaning the popular kids' show will be on our screens until at least 2027.

The news came as animation studio Astley Baker Davies (ABD) stepped back from the programme, with UK studio Karrot taking over and producing the new episodes.

Peppa Pig first arrived on our screens back in 2004 and has been a firm family favourite ever since.

In other Peppa news, earlier this year we told you how Cardi B is famously feuding with the piglet after her daughter, Kulture, picked up some annoying habits from watching the show.

It seems Kulture, whose father is fellow rapper Offset, has taken to jumping into puddles just like Peppa, leaving Cardi fuming at the toddler for ruining her shoes.

Taking to Twitter, Cardi issued a warning to Peppa Pig, telling her 15.8 million followers: "My baby been watching Peppa Pig and now every time she sees a wet puddle she wants to stomp on it.

"That s*** gets me so tight! F*****g up her Uggs."

She starkly finished her Tweet: "Deum [sic] you Peppa Pig ...COUNT YOUR F****** DAYS!"

This has to be the weirdest showbiz feud in history.
