Love Island fans were left cringing during Tuesday's show (14 June) when Gemma Owen accidentally called Luca Bish her ex-boyfriend's name, who happens to be in the villa.

Viewers are now speculating that the 19-year-old and her ex Jacques O'Neill might be 'secretly together' after spotting the pair laughing together in a scene after the name faux pas. Watch below:

After Gemma and the 23-year-old rugby player had a private chat inside the villa to discuss her awkward mistake, the pair share a friendly chuckle about the situation.

"He's going to be fuming, ain't he?" Gemma said, before Jacques attempts to reassure her. "No, he won't be."

The former couple walk outside together which Luca immediately spots. Ouch.

Fans took to Twitter to share their predictions about Gemma and Jacques and to jokingly suggest they are 'secretly' still in a relationship.

However, both Islanders are single.

"No way Gemma does that, Jacques tells her to apologize bc Luca is fuming, and then they walk back out TOGETHER," one viewer shared. "I love this mess".

A second viewer theorised: "I’m starting to think Gemma and Jacques plotted together.".

One fan quipped: "Gemma and Jacques laughing together they’re so sick".

Sharing their thoughts on the secret relationship theory, a social media user tweeted: "Someone said Gemma and Jacques are secretly still together! I’m starting to believe it because, why did she run off to check on her ex before Luca??".

What do you think?

It all started when the Islanders said goodbye to Afia, who was the first person to be ‘dumped’ from the island.

While sitting close to her ex in the kitchen, Gemma accidentally called Luca – with whom she is currently coupled up with – Jacques.

As if that wasn’t already awkward enough, she had an added audience of the other Islanders, including Jacques himself who was sitting nearby.

Before entering the villa, Jacques spoke to ITV about his recent dating history. "I split up with my ex and then I was seeing someone else.

"I was concentrating so much on my rugby and then I had that injury. I think it needs to be the right person, at the right time".

When asked about how feel feels when it comes to 'stepping on toes' in the villa, he replied: "Not arsed at all."

Love Island airs weeknights at 9:00pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
