Love Island 2022: Applications Are Officially Open For New Season

Who’s your type on paper?

The weather outside is…frightful, to say the least.

Christmas is well and truly over, skies are grey and the next bank holiday is all the way in April…which seems like years away.

Well, there is one glimmer of hope on the horizon. Looking for a summer of love (or lust?) in the sizzling Spanish sun? Now’s the time to get your applications for the eighth season of Love Island.

The official Love Island Instagram page has announced that you can now apply for the 2022 season – and it’s certainly lifted us out of our post-Christmas funk.

The post reads: “Happy New Year! Now, who fancies spending summer in paradise, with the hope of finding love?

“Applications are officially open for #loveisland 2022. Get grafting and apply now by clicking the link in bio.”

Love Island is responsible for some of our favourite celebrity couples, with some Islanders having gone on to marry and have children.

Recently, series two runners-up Alex and Olivia Bowen revealed their expecting their first child.

Elsewhere, series three runners-up Camilla Thurlow and her husband Jamie Jewitt announced they were expecting their second child.

The most recent season of Love Island saw a number of new couples including Millie Court and Liam Reardon who won the show in 2021 after a tumultuous journey. Toby Aromolaran and Chloe Burrows finished in second place.

Controversial couple Faye Winter and Teddy Soares placed third, and Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank were fourth. All couples are still together, apart from Kaz and Tyler who split in December after four months together.

The pair confirmed the news on Instagram in a statement, which read: “We are extremely sad to announce that we have decided to end our romantic relationship.

"We have had a fantastic journey and we will always have a special bond between us.

"We will continue to be very much in one another's lives and support each other in every way.

"We are so grateful that we have shared this Love Island experience with each other, and we will continue to support each others careers.”
