Love Island: Everyone's Saying The Same Thing About The Baby Challenge

Love Island: Everyone's Saying The Same Thing About The Baby Challenge

'How is this actually 2021????'

Love Island fans were delighted to see the return of the baby challenge last night - because who doesn't love seeing a group of baffled 20 somethings trying to navigate parenthood?

The reality stars were tasked with taking care of a group of electronic kids during the show, and as expected, they didn't take to it naturally. *Cough cough, Faye Winter, we're looking at you...*

But alongside Toby Aromolaran dropping his child and Kaz Kamwi thinking that babies breathe out the top of their heads, the biggest conversation point seemed to be a twist in the challenge that left viewers riled.

Halfway through the day, the boys received a text to tell them that they were going on a dads' day out, and were subsequently sent out on a golf trip while the girls were sitting at home with the kids.

And as you can imagine, people weren't too happy about the show perpetuating the idea of the mum being lumbered with the childcare duties.

"So the boys just got a golf trip? What was the reason? #LoveIsland," former winner Amber Gill wrote as she watched the scenes unfold.

While another viewer agreed: "It infuriated me that they chose to show “struggling stay at home mum” & lads at the golf. So boring."

"What kind of 1950s patriarchal nonsense is this, women at home with the babies, men out on the golf course!? #loveisland", said a third.

Despite uproar, it's important to note that when the baby challenge has taken place over the years, ITV has regularly sent the women away on activity days leaving the roles reversed, with the men in charge of looking after their tots.

However, it's understandable that the golfing trip left some people riled.

At the end of the challenge all of the couples passed apart from Faye Winter and Teddy Soares, and Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran.

Which isn't surprising given that Faye literally hid in a wardrobe at one point, to avoid taking care of her offspring.

Ah Love Island. The baby challenge gets us every time...
