If you've been binge-watching Christmas films and TV shows to get excited for the big day, you may have come across The Santa Clauses.

The Disney+ show is a continuation of Tim Allen's The Santa Clause film franchise, and its first season finale launched on the streaming platform today (15 December).

Just hours after, Disney decided to spread some early Christmas cheer by announcing a second season of The Santa Clauses.

Allen will once again be reprising the role of Scott Calvin and Santa Claus, alongside Elizabeth Mitchell as Mrs. Claus/Carol Calvin.

Allen will also be an executive producer on the show once more alongside Jack Burditt, who will serve as The Santa Clauses' showrunner for the second season.

Kevin Hench, Richard Baker and Rick Messina will also all return as executive producers, alongside Jason Winer and Jon Radler from Small Dog Picture Company.

Disney

Speaking on the announcement of a second season, Ayo Davis, President at Disney Branded Television, said: "This franchise has had a lasting impact for so many families, truly becoming part of their annual holiday traditions.

"Bringing it back as a series has been a true gift, and I’m grateful to our producing partners at 20th Television and, of course, Tim Allen and team, that we have yet another reason to celebrate this holiday season."

Disney

In the first season - which debuted on Disney+ in November - Scott Calvin returns to our screens with nearly 30 years' experience as Santa Claus.

Santa Claus is as jolly as ever, but with less people believing in him, the popularity in Christmas starts to decline.

Scott is also a lot older and is struggling to keep up with the pace of the big job, as well as juggling family life.

In the short TV series, Scott discovers a way to retire from being Santa Claus, so considers stepping down and finding a successor.

Tim Allen has been Santa Clause since 1994.

Allen debut as Santa Claus aka Scott Calvin came in the 1994 film The Santa Clause, with him reprising the role in the Santa Clause 2 in 2002.

He once again returned for The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, though that was thought of less highly by most fans.

Actors Eric Lloyd (Charlie Calvin) and David Krumholtz (Bernard the Elf) also return for The Santa Clauses as their popular characters from the film franchise.

Episodes of The Santa Clauses - originally released weekly - are all now available on Disney+ to stream.
