Woman brutally ditched by date because she 'wasn't into Marvel'

People are in shock.

The modern dating scene can be a minefield, with countless preferences, "types" and deal-breakers.

But one unexpected hazard that could leave you without a match could be a lack of knowledge of superhero films.

This is exactly what happened to one unfortunate woman who was savagely rejected by her date when she made what turned out to be a major mistake regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Yes, really.

A clip showing the moment she was rejected is now going viral and we’re not surprised since it needs to be seen to be believed.

The dating show in question, called The Button, gives contestants the chance to push a button when it lights up red if they wish to swap out their date for a new person.

It should also be noted that the button talks throughout the date and helps the contestants move their conversations along.

If both contestants can converse and avoid pressing the button for 10 minutes they win an all-expenses paid second date.

Donny was unimpressed with Maria calling Marvel 'anime'.

However, a second date was completely off the table in a recent episode shared by the YouTube channel Cut, when Donny savagely rejected Maria after her MCU faux pas.

Maria was told by the Button that Donny is ‘a Marvel nerd’.

Donny then posed the question: “Are you into Marvel?”

Maria responded: “You know what... no."

At this point, the Button lights up as she explained: “My brother watches them but I just can’t get into anime.”

Donny swiftly presses the button and instantly ends their date. He then chastises Maria for mixing up the hugely popular film franchise and Japanese animation.

Maria also reached for the button at the same time, but was too slow.

“Like, you can’t not like Marvel,” Donny responded, unimpressed.

“It’s amazing. There are so many different things and it’s not anime, it’s a bunch of superheroes who try to save everybody.”

The date came to a swift end.

After a long, awkward pause, she said: “Yeah, I’ll give it a chance… maybe.”

Maria then makes her exit in silence.

The Button interrupts and asked: “Your person has to like Marvel films, right?”

He responds: “The comics, the movies, I have a dog named Marvel, it’s a big deal to me.”

Meanwhile backstage, Maria tells the other women waiting for their dates the reason behind the rejection.

Maria also reached for the button, but was too slow.

“He rejected me because I didn’t like Marvel.”

Shocked giggles and a ‘what?!’ can be heard in response.

Viewers were also left in shock, with one commenter writing: "The fact he rejected her cuz she doesn’t like Marvel made me cackle at how ridiculous that was."

While another person responded to the video: "This is painful."

Other people defended the reasoning behind the rejection by comparing it to any other hobby.

A lack of Marvel knowledge could leave you without a date.

"I mean it's no different then rejecting a dude because he likes sports or having different interests/hobbies," said one person.

Similarly, another user wrote: "I mean how is that different from rejecting someone for not liking the same music genres you do?"

One person quipped: "She called it anime bro I would reject her too."

Note to self: Watch Avengers before the next date!
