Between flower arrangements, food, and entertainment, nobody's wedding ever goes 100 per cent according to plan.

One bride wasn't willing to let that slide, though, and is threatening to divorce her new husband after he did something "unforgivable" at the reception.

She explained before the wedding that she had only one "hard-and-fast rule", and when he broke it, she had no intention of sticking around.

Writing in to Slate's Dear Prudence advice column, the anonymous bride explained that she had never been too fussed about tying the knot, but when her boyfriend proposed, they decided to give it a shot.

She said: "My only hard-and-fast rule was that he would not rub cake in my face at the reception.

"Being a reasonable man who knows me well, he didn’t. Instead, he grabbed me by the back of the head and shoved my head down into it. It was planned since the cake was DESTROYED, and he had a bunch of cupcakes as backup."

Furious over the betrayal, the bride explained that she left the wedding in a rage, and told her new husband the next day that they were over.

Of course, friends and family have urged her to reconsider and not to give up "at the first hurdle."

She writes: "The thing is that over the holidays EVERYONE has gotten together to tell me I should give him a second chance. That I am overreacting because of my issues (I am VERY claustrophobic after a car accident years ago, and I absolutely panicked at being shoved into a cake and held there)."

While the upset writer is still convinced that she wants to end things with her partner, her loved ones coming together to convince her otherwise have left her feeling even more distraught.

Is she taking things a step too far, or has this bride spotted a serious red flag?

Recently, we told you about a bride who shocked her wedding guests with an extensive list of rules and demands for her big day.
