Personal space and planes aren’t particularly compatible, but this photo really takes the biscuit.

Posting a photo on Reddit of a recent flight she took, social media user Emily Kauai explained she was left with barely any leg space on the four-hour plane journey.

The snap revealed the passenger sitting next to Emily had decided to sit with his legs sprawled apart, leaving Emily with a pretty minuscule amount of legroom.

Emily, who hails from Florida, captioned her post: “This was how my entire four hour flight went today. I am a five-foot-eight-inch female.”

She also explained that she’d asked the man to budge over numerous times, but his legs always returned to the pictured position.

“A couple of times I mentioned it to him, and he would move over. But his legs would casually return to where they rested during his movie,” Emily explained.

Needless to say, Emily’s post enticed dozens of comments, with some people taking Emily’s side, while others expressed sympathy for the man.

Pointing out how frustrating Emily’s situation was, one person wrote: “That guy is fully scooted forward. He’s not tall. Look where his groin area is compared to hers. He’s just inconsiderate.”

Someone else added: “People like this suck. I would have said something,” while a third said: “The guy's crotch is at the edge of the seat. It looks like he's slouching really bad, which he can control.”

Offering up an alternative perspective, another person said: “A lot of people think it’s so disrespectful to do stuff like this, or to be tall in a movie theater and whatnot, but oftentimes we don’t have a choice.”

Another Redditor commented: “I am 6’3 and have to sit like this. It’s awful,” and someone else wrote: “I doubt the guy had any choice but to sit like that.”

One person who didn't divide opinion with her plane etiquette was doting mum Anna Lyn Cook, who recently left people impressed with how well she handled a seat swap onboard.

Anna explained that despite trying to ensure her family were all sitting together when booking their flight online, she wasn’t able to seat them next to each other.

After boarding, Anna noticed that the passenger who was sitting with her family looked a little stressed about the fact he was surrounded by kids, and ended up being more than happy to swap seats with her.

Anna said the passenger was ‘so down’ to take her seat, which she pointed out also had more leg room.

People were quick to praise Anna in the comment section below, leaving remarks like: “And THAT is how you get people to switch seats” and “See this is how you trade a seat! Offer a better one.”
