This Morning doctor Michael Mosley has gone missing on an island in Greece, authorities have confirmed

This Morning doctor Michael Mosley has gone missing on an island in Greece, authorities have confirmed.

According to the Daily Mail - an outlet Mosley serves as a columnist for - the TV star went missing after going for a walk along St Nicholas Beach on Symi at 1.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 5 June).

His wife, Dr Clare Bailey, raised the alarm after he failed to return by 7.30pm.

Police in Athens said they were ‘actively pursuing the case.’

Senior Police Spokesman Constantina Dimoglidou said ongoing searches that began early this morning have yet to yield any find.

Dimoglidou told the Daily Mail: "He was at the beach of Ag. Nikolas with another couple when he decided to go back to his home in the area of Pedi of Symi. It was around 1.30pm and he forgot his phone at the beach. Any and every attempt to track him down has not produced any result.

"We have now asked the fire brigade to assist in the operation in the case that he may have slipped, tripped, fallen, even bitten by a snake, remaining injured somewhere.

"There is just no trace of him. None whatsoever and that means that for us at least, every potential scenario is open and being investigated."

Representatives for Mosley have also confirmed the search is ongoing, telling the Mirror they are 'very worried about him'.

A community Facebook group on Symi appealed for information from locals and holidaymakers, sharing a photo of Mosley in shorts, a blue polo shirt, baseball cap and sunglasses.

"Have you seen this man?" the post asked. "He set off to walk back from St Nick's at about 13.30 and failed to make it home.

He regularly appeared on ITV and the BBC (ITV)

"His friends are concerned as it is 6 hours since they last saw him. His name is Dr Mike Mosley and he is a familiar face for many British people as he has appeared on the BBC.

"The police and coast guard have been informed EMAK, the island's rescue team, is also involved."

As well as appearing regularly on ITV's This Morning and BBC's The One Show, Mosley is also known for presenting BBC Radio 4's Just One Thing.

The intermittent fasting advocate has published several books including The Fast Diet and The Fast 800.

He has also written a book on using diet to improve sleep called Fast Asleep.
