Family slam 'worst flight ever' after stag do caused 'riot' on board

The family were flying from Edinburgh to Tenerife when they experienced the 'riot' on board.

While on a flight, you certainly want it to be a pleasant experience. Yes, you can get rowdier flights than others due to the location you are jetting off too, but you certainly don't want your holiday to be ruined before you even arrive.

Unfortunately for one family, they landed in sunny Tenerife not best pleased due to the 'worst' flight ever.

Elaine Wilson Duncan, 62, and her cousin Linda Bishop, also 62, were taking their aunt Christine Moreland, 88, on a much-deserved holiday.

Christine's husband died three years ago, with her being too scared to travel alone - so her relatives decided to take her away.

The family flew from Edinburgh to Tenerife on 26 April, but the flight quickly turned into mayhem due to a 'riot' caused by a dozen men on stag do.

According to Elaine, the men began shouting and swearing on the Ryanair flight, all while they were passing around a bottle of vodka and vaping.

However, Ryanair have since told Tyla that crew on the flight did not see any of the men vaping and drinking their own alcohol.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Elaine said: "We weren't aware of the stag do when we were queuing to board the plane and then a lot of them were sitting behind us on board. With the rest dotted around the plane - there were about 12 in total.

"When the first refreshments trolley came around, I asked for two drinks as there is normally a long wait in between the refreshments being offered.

"I was told this wasn't available because it was a stag and hen do destination and passengers were only allowed one drink each.

"The man in front kept asking for more 7up they were sharing a bottle of vodka amongst themselves and drinking it from the juice bottles.

"I reported this to the air hostess as they were getting more and more drunk - and louder. But she told me, they already knew and had to catch them pouring it in, in order to do anything about it."

Elaine claims that a lad in front of her was vaping in his seat to the point where 'you could see the cloud of smoke in the air'.

The family had a stressful start to their holiday.

Elaine went on to say how the flight didn't get any better, with the group just getting more and more drunk.

Eventually staff refused to serve any more alcohol on the flight, with Elaine claiming an air hostess apologised for not being able to serve her a drink and said 'it's a riot onboard'.

"I complained afterwards but the staff told me that there was no section my complaint fit into so they could not process it," Eliane said.

"I will never fly with Ryanair again by choice."

Elaine says she 'feels' for her aunt as her first experience travelling in a while turned out to be an 'horrendous' experience.

A spokesperson for Ryanair told Tyla: "We regret that a small group of passengers on this flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife (26 Apr) became disruptive in-flight.

"To diffuse the situation and minimise disruption to passengers, cabin crew made several announcements throughout the flight and refused to serve alcoholic drinks before landing safely in Tenerife."
