Prince William and Kate Middleton surprisingly react to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement that broke the internet

It seems even the Royal Family were excited to hear that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged.

It's the announcement that Swifties around the world have been waiting for - Taylor and Travis are getting married.

The pair shared a post on social media on Tuesday (26 August) with a series of photos of the moment Travis popped the question.

The pair could be seen looking very loved up in a rose garden in Lee's Summit, Missouri, meanwhile another snap showed Travis down on one knee.

Taylor can then be seen sporting her colossal engagement ring - an old mine brilliant-cut diamond in a gold bezel setting designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.

The pair captioned their post - which has accumulated over 27 million likes in just under 12 hours: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."

One account that's liked the post belongs to the Prince and Princess of Wales, who seem to be Taylor and Travis fans.

Back in June, Taylor surprised her fans by sharing a selfie with future king Prince William and the Royal children, after the family attended one of the concerts as part of her Eras Tour.

The cute photo showed William, George and Charlotte posing with Taylor and Travis after the show.

Speaking about the moment, Travis' brother Jason - who also attended - explained on their New Heights podcast: "I gotta say, Prince William was fantastic but the highlight was Princess Charlotte.

"Prince George was great too, but she was so f**king adorable. I can’t express, maybe it’s because I have three girls, she had fire to her, she was asking questions, that was the most electric part."

The Prince and Princess of Wales aren't the only royal fans, with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex also attending one of Taylor's gigs.

According to PEOPLE, Meghan also liked the post announcing the couple's engagement, from her account, @meghan.

Ever since Taylor and Travis announced their news, fans have been delving into all the details surrounding the post, with many keen to know when the engagement took place.

Providing some extra details, Travis' dad, Ed, explained it happened around a fortnight ago.

"Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago." Ed told News 5's John Kosich earlier today (27 Aug).

"He was going to put it off till this week.

"I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event."

Ed went on to claim: "And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event... when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you."
