Royal family ‘prepared to take action’ over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new name, insider claims

Prince Harry and Meghan are at risk of losing their titles if they continue to slam the Royal Family

The Royal Family are prepared to remove Prince Harry and Meghan's Sussex titles if they release any further damaging details about the monarchy, an insider claims.

Prince Harry and former Suits star Meghan Markle got married in 2018 after they began dating two years prior.

In January 2020, they stepped down as senior Royals before moving to Southern California but have kept their titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Since then, the couple have revealed a number of bombshell claims about how they were allegedly treated by both the Royal family and palace staff.

In a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan her detailed her treatment following her wedding to Harry and told the presenter that she 'didn't want to be alive anymore' during the peak of the crisis.

She also claimed her pleas for help were ignored.

And, Harry's 2023 memoir Spare revealed detailed the rift between himself, his brother and their respective wives, including an infamous argument in the build-up to his and Meghan's wedding that left his wife-to-be 'sobbing on the floor.'

Now, an inside source reveals that the pair are at risk of losing their Sussex titles if they continue to publicly slam Harry's relatives.

While it would take an Act of Parliament to remove the titles, the source told the Daily Mail that the Royal family is prepared to sanction their removal if they feel it is appropriate.

This comes after Meghan made her feelings clear about her Sussex title during filming for her new Netflix series.

Speaking to actress Mindy Kaling, the 43-year-old said: "It's so funny you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I'm 'Sussex' now," before going on to explain its significance.

"I didn't know how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much to go, 'This is our family name. Our little family name,'" she said.

Meghan had previously told People that it became more important to her after becoming a mother, explaining: "It's our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn't recognised how meaningful that would be to me until we had children."

But Meghan's insistence on using the title as her surname has rubbed people up the wrong way.

One person mused: "Her name is NOT Meghan Sussex. Her name is technically Rachel Mountbatten-Windsor. Sussex is a county in England & part of a courtesy title - NOT her last name."

The Duchess of Sussex was born Rachel Meghan Markle.

And another wrote: "Meghan Markle married Henry Mountbatten Windsor not Harry Sussex! She's a delusional woman."
