There's a good reason the change was made for the young royals

While us mere mortals are used to having a forename and surname - and sometimes a middle name if we're lucky - members of the royal family have a variety of monikers depending on several factors.

Kate (or Catherine, we should say) is still sometimes known by her maiden surname Middleton, becoming the Duchess of Cambridge when she married Wills in 2011.

These days, however, she's known as the Princess of Wales after William was named Prince of Wales by his father, King Charles III.

And it turns out even their own kids have the same identity crisis - in a good way, though.

In a bid to help George, 10, Charlotte, nine, and Louis, six, have a relatively normal education, they are given different names at school.

No doubt many of their classmates were jealous when the two eldest siblings got to rub shoulders with Taylor Swift recently at her Eras Tour, posing for a smiling selfie after being seen dancing away to her hits.

But in a bid to make sure they're a little more accessible for their peers, the trio aren't known by their royal names when in the classroom.

They used to be known as George Cambridge, Charlotte Cambridge and Louis Cambridge, but that's now changed to George Wales, Charlotte Wales and Louis Wales as a nod to their parents' new titles.

This was an experience shared by William, and his brother, Prince Harry, who also had their father's title Wales at school.

And it turns out youngest brother Louis also has another nickname of his own, though it sounds like this is just one he gets from mum Kate.

Back in May last year, shortly after King Charles' coronation, the family took part in the Big Help Out at 3rd Upton Scouts Hut in Slough to help renovate the building.

An adorable clip from the day shows Kate and a scout member helping Louis prepare a s’more – a sandwich made from a melted marshmallow between biscuits – which he wasted no time eating.

But the mum-of-three was heard affectionately calling her youngest 'Lou-Bugs' as she told him to put his wooden stick used to toast a marshmallow into the fire.

Louis clearly enjoyed his snack as he licked the marshmallow off his fingers while eating the delicious s’more.

Dad Prince William could be heard making a joke about his son’s apparent sweet tooth, telling the crowd: “You won’t hear a peep out of him now,” as everyone chuckled.

Prince Louis: relatable as ever.
