As part of the second instalment of her controversial Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex reflected on a particularly arduous period of her life.
Whilst she doesn't explicitly say so, it's believed the year in reference was 2022, several weeks following the September death of her grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II.
At the time, Meghan and husband Prince Harry were two years into their new life in Montecito, California, having resigned from their royal duties and fled the UK, citing maltreatment from both the British press and the monarchy in 2020.

With Harry having lost his beloved grandmother, however, the Sussexes rushed to London to issue the late Queen a final goodbye, after which they remained in the country whilst funeral arrangements were underway.
The stay marked the only occasion Meghan has returned to her husband's home country since their move across the Atlantic.
Despite being there for her other half during the distressing period, the mother-of-two has since confessed to feeling 'not well' for a particularly 'three-week' period, whilst their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were so far away.
Speaking on episode two of her new series, Meghan can be heard chatting to Queer Eye star Tan France about the prospect of their kids growing up in the years to come.

"You know what’s funny? When parents are like, 'Oh, I just can’t wait for them to go to college and be out'," father-of-two France begins. "I’m like, 'I never want my children to leave'. They’re not allowed to get married. Not allowed to leave my house."
The former Suits actress then agreed, adding: "I’ll miss them so much. You want to be the parent who’s like, 'Yes, go do it. Go do your thing. Go live that life'. But I’m going to miss you so much."
Meghan then went on to make a recollection which appears to allude to the late Queen's funeral: "The longest I went without being around our kids was almost three weeks. I was...not well."

As we say, whilst Meghan never explicitly references the sad festivities, her admission seems to correlate with a previous claim made by Prince Harry about the impact that such a long time away from their kids had upon the couple.
Writing in his 2023 memoir Spare, the 40-year-old insisted neither he 'couldn’t let them [Archie and Lilibet] out of their sight' after landing back in the States.
The Prince also explained in the book that their absence from Los Angeles was 'longer than we'd ever been'.
"For days and days we couldn't stop hugging the children, couldn't let them out of our sight," Harry continued.

At the time, the pair had already been travelling across Europe without their kids for charity events, during which the late monarch suddenly fell ill.
In total, the couple were away from Archie and Lilibet for 17 days.
