Meghan Markle makes subtle motherhood dig at royal family in new message to the public

Many people think Meghan Markle made a dig at the royals in a recent comment she made

Motherhood isn't easy, that's for sure, and Meghan Markle has opened up about the realities of it - along with what appears to be a subtle dig at the royal family.

She made the comment during the penultimate episode of her podcast series, Confessions Of A Female Founder.

Meghan was joined by Kitsch founder Cassandra Thurswell, and the duo were talking about motherhood and all that it entails.

The Duchess Of Sussex, who recently celebrated her seven-year wedding anniversary with husband Prince Harry, has opened up about how being a mum didn't work out the way she planned, as well as sharing what she thought it would like to become a mum.

Meghan said on the episode: "I will say for myself, especially when they are baby babies... the crying... before I was a mom, and I've always wanted to be a mom, but before I was a mom, I was 'Oh gosh, I'm going to give a speech with a baby on my hip'.

"I had a whole vision...and you fast forward... granted I had a lot of external things happening at the time I had both pregnancies and both babies, but it was not the way I envisioned it."

Her 'external things' comment appears to be a subtle dig at the royal family - AKA, her in-laws - and their treatment of her, which ultimately contributed to she and Harry stepping down from their senior royal roles and relocating to the US in 2020.

Her guest Cassandra, who runs a lifestyle, hair and beauty company, said she also struggled to get the balance right until her daughter was seven-years-old, confessing she found it hard to be both a mother and a CEO.

"I had my daughter, I thought everything was going to be just so easy. I would continue to just go on as my normal self, breastfeed at the office and do all these things, and I had a real reality check," Cassandra said.

"I had some really intense postpartum anxiety, my husband really had to step in, and this was when we were really growing quickly, and it was such a crippling growth period for me... it wasn't until she was seven years old that I was like 'I'm okay'."

Meghan marked her wedding anniversary with Harry with a sweet montage of snaps on Instagram, including many which had never been seen before.

She wrote a caption praising their supporters: "Seven years of marriage. A lifetime of stories. Thanks to all of you (whether by our side, or from afar) who have loved and supported us throughout our love story - we appreciate you. Happy anniversary!"

Sadly, her podcast hasn't gone down too well with critics, with Confessions of Female Founder receiving some fairly scathing reviews.

One critic called the series 'sycophantic', while another called it nothing but '45 minutes of platitudes'.
