Following reports that Meghan Markle is using her upcoming one-woman Netflix series as a means of 'distancing' herself from her royal family, one expert also believes Prince Harry is trying to do the exact same thing.

Speaking exclusively to Tyla this week, former royal butler Grant Harrold believes there's a sign in the trailer for the Duchess' lifestyle show that indicates the Duke also intends to 'professionally separate' from his brood this year.

Following her shock return to social media this New Years Day. the 43-year-old mother-of-two yesterday (2 Jan) shared a trailer for her very own, self-fronted television series, With Love, Meghan.

"I have been so excited to share this with you!" she captioned the post. "I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it.

"Wishing you all a fantastic new year! Thanks to our amazing crew and the team @netflix.

"Beyond grateful for the support - and fun! As ever, Meghan."

Tudum described the incoming series as a glimpse into the Duchess' life, 'in the kitchen, garden - and even at the beehive - as she prepares to host friends both old and new'.

Her husband also makes a brief cameo appearance in the trailer, cosying up with Meghan in a warm embrace.

Harry's lack of presence in the clip, however, has left some fans wondering why such a prominent figure in the former Suits actress' life might have been omitted from the show.

But according to royal expert Grant Harrold - who spoke to Tyla on behalf of Slingo today - this decision was likely conscious, being that the couple want to show that they each have their own careers.

"This is the way to do things, if they want to do media and television," Grant firstly gushed.

"Harry appears briefly and I think it would be a bit weird if he didn't but this might show that he is taking a step back from them as a couple work wise and focusing on his own projects while Meghan is working on her own brand."

Last year, Tyla reported on rumours of a 'professional separation' happening between the couple.

"Harry and Meghan have consistently pursued solo ventures in connection with their individual interests," an anonymous source told Hello! a few months back.

"But remain deeply committed to their joint efforts through Archewell [their joint charity, formed in 2020]."

The source added at the time: "Together they have exciting projects in the pipeline, all driving forward their shared mission for positive global impact."

Could Meghan's new series - and Harry's apparent decision to take a step back - be proof of this theory?

As we say, Grant certainly seems to think so.

Speaking about other aspects of the clip - including what Harry's somewhat estranged family might think of the series - he went on to tell us: "This is really interesting, not at all what I was expecting - it’s a little bit Nigella Lawson. Personally speaking, I think it’s quite nice.

"This is something, without question, that the royal family would absolutely approve of - it’s nothing to do with them, she’s not using her title as she has done before.

"It’s a complete change of direction and a huge U-turn on what happened a couple of years ago, which is really interesting.

"Which again, to me, could show that relations are possibly improving between the families."
