Meghan Markle made ‘subtle change’ to Prince Archie’s birthday post following backlash

There seemed to be a detail omitted from the birthday post

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's son, Archie, turned six this week and the Duchess of Sussex shared an adorable photo of her eldest to mark the occasion.

In the image, Archie can be seen peering over the balcony, facing away from the camera.

The youngster appears to be looking towards the beautiful sunset in the background, with Meghan writing alongside the post: "Our son. Our sun.

"Happy 6th birthday to Archie!

"Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He’s six! Where did the time go?

"(And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special)."

According to the DailyMail.com, Meghan left out one detail in the caption of the photo, following some backlash she'd received in the last few weeks.

In the sweet message, Meghan referred to her son as 'Archie' instead of 'Prince Archie.'

Royal fans will know that Prince William and Kate Middleton usually refer to their children with their titles, in birthday posts.

However, last month, Meghan was criticised after it was claimed she used her 'HRH' title after stepping away from the royal family in 2020.

During a podcast interview with her friend Jamie Kern Lima, which was shared on YouTube, Meghan was chatting with her friend when an image was shown of a gift basket of ice cream and homemade strawberry sauce that Meghan had sent to Kern Lima.

A note printed on monogrammed paper could be seen, reading: “With the compliments of HRH the Duchess of Sussex.”

The couple stepped down as senior working royals in March 2020, and they eventually settled in California and signed deals with Spotify and Netflix to earn their own money, The Times reports.

The publication further says that Harry and Meghan had agreed with the late Queen Elizabeth II not to use their HRH titles in the future, though they would retain the titles, and as a result, Prince Harry had his HRH title removed on the royal family’s website, Royal.uk, in late 2023.

In a 2020 statement issued by the Palace, it was confirmed that the Sussexes 'will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the royal family.'

The Times said that this suggests that they would not be able to use HRH for commercial purposes, such as to promote a series, with Meghan being credited as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex in her Netflix lifestyle series.

However, the Sussexes' reps have issued a statement to address the situation, telling Hello! Magazine that the couple 'do not use' their HRH titles, despite no legal formal removal of the titles.

It's not clear whether Meghan omitted Archie's title deliberately, but with the family no longer working royals, it makes sense he would be referred to simply as 'Archie.'
