People think Meghan Markle took a dig at the Royal Family with her recent statement about her new brand.

Upon announcing her new lifestyle brand to the world earlier today, called As Ever, Meghan alluded to the sacrifices she had made to marry Prince Harry - including shutting down her blog, The Tig, in 2017.

The brand will launch on 4 March, alongside her new Netflix show With Love, Meghan, sharing her cooking, hosting, and gardening tips with celebrity guests.

She noted that the shop, named As Ever, will sell 'fruit preserves' and 'non-medicated hair preparations', as well as candles, stationery, and jewellery.

In an announcement video on her Instagram, she gave some recognition to her blog, which is where she says the passion started.

Meghan said: "As Ever essentially means as it's always been, and if you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking and crafting and gardening - this is what I do."

Referencing sacrifices she made to be part of the royal family, she added: "I haven't been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can so, as things are starting to trickle out there, I wanted you to hear it from me first."

Speaking in the Duke and Duchess' Netflix docuseries, Meghan's longtime friend Silver Tree described her blog as 'like your best friend telling you all the fun things you wish you knew about in one place'.

But a blog post from the now-deleted site has resurfaced from 2014, where Meghan wrote about the 'pomp and circumstance' of 'Princess Kate's' wedding.

Who, ironically, went onto be her future sister-in-law.

In the post, she wrote: "Little girls dream of being princesses. I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power.

"For those of you unfamiliar with the '80s cartoon reference, She-Ra is the twin sister of He-Man and a sword-wielding royal rebel known for her strength.

"We're definitely not talking about Cinderella here.

"Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate."

She closed down the passion project in 2017, a year before her very own royal wedding, despite saying that it had 'evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity'.
