Eagle-eyed royal fans have spotted a surprising new addition to Kate Middleton and Prince William’s family in their latest video.

The Prince and Princess of Wales took to social media over the weekend on Sunday (30 March) to share a message celebrating Mother's Day.

The clip in question, nearly 40 seconds long, featured a montage of nature shots including flowers blooming, a rainy field, waves crashing, and a ladybird crawling across a strand of grass before the 'Kensington Royal' appeared as the video came to an end.

It was one shot of Kate, however, which clearly caught the attention of fans online.

It featured the mum-of-three walking through a grassy field barefoot wearing long navy-blue shorts, with two companions closely following behind her.

She captioned the post: "Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary. This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognise how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life."

Kate also signed off the message with her signature 'C'.

The two companions in question were a pair of four-legged friends - one of which fans recognised as their family dog named Orla, but she was joined by a brown Cocker Spaniel, which prompted many to wonder if the Wales had welcomed a new pooch into her home.

"Guys Orla has a new brother or sister," gushed one X user.

A second penned: "Princess Catherine has a new puppy."

"Does anyone know Princess Catherine’s new dog’s name?" wondered a third.

The brown spaniel, named Nala, actually belongs to Kate's brother, James Middleton, who breeds Cocker Spaniels. The Wales adopted Orla from him a few year ago back in 2020 when she was eight months old.

Prince William recently revealed that Orla often sleeps on the bed alongside him and Kate after he reportedly stopped to pet a wellwisher's dog during a visit to Duchy College in Cornwall.

"[William] said that his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night, with him and Kate," Louise Harland told Hits Radio Cornwall back in October of last year.

She continued: "[He was] absolutely in love with my little dog. He asked what breed he was and he's never met one of those breeds, he's a Cockerjack, so he's a little bit of a unique combination."
