After his eagerly-awaited memoir Spare hit bookstore shelves back in January 2023, one of the most hotly-discussed bombshells Prince Harry dropped discussed an alleged row between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton over bridesmaid dresses.
Frosty familial relations
Kate, the Princess of Wales, and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, are said to have endured a frosty friendship since Harry first went public with the Suits actress in 2016. Prince William is also said to have questioned his little brother's certainty over the relationship at the time.

Though Meghan and Harry went on to tie the knot in 2018, the years that followed saw the couple sensationally resign from their royal duties and flea from the UK to the US.
In the safety of their new California home, the pair opened up about the alleged mistreatment that they - specifically, Meghan - had endured at the hands of Harry's royal family, through shocking TV interviews and a Netflix documentary.

Harry, 40, also released a memoir at the time, detailing several incidents of his brother William and sister-in-law Kate having bullied his wife, including one fiery spat over a bridesmaid dress.
The bridesmaid dress incident
Writing at the time, the Prince claims that Kate texted Meghan four days prior to their nuptials insisting that the 'French Couture' bridesmaid dresses they'd ordered needed to be 'remade', as they didn't fit Princess Charlotte.

According to Harry, the mother-of-three had complained about the gowns being 'too big, too long, too baggy', adding that her daughter 'cried when she tried it on'.
"Meg didn't reply to Kate straight away," Harry penned in the best-seller. "Yes, she had endless wedding-related texts, but mostly she was dealing with the chaos surrounding her father. So the next morning she texted Kate that our tailor was standing by. This wasn't sufficient."
He added that Meghan, 43, replied at the time: "Right, and I told you the tailor has been standing by since 8am. Here. At KP.

"Can you take Charlotte to have it altered, as the other mums are doing?"
Harry went on to claim Kate, also 43, responded by telling Meghan that 'all' of the bridesmaids’ dresses to be remade, and that he'd found his future wife 'sobbing on the floor' later that day as a result.
In the memoir, the father-of-two went on to claim that Kate had delivered a bouquet of flowers and a card as an apology the following day.
It turns out, however, that Kate might have had good reason for her outburst, which hit headlines around the world following the release of Harry's memoir.
Kate's 'reasoning'
After the Princess began facing backlash for having allegedly reduced Meghan to tears, a royal insider told press that Kate was feeling particularly sensitive at the time.

"Kate had only just given birth to Prince Louis and was feeling quite emotional," they claimed, adding it was true that she had issued Meghan with an apology the following day.

Other sources told The Telegraph following the revelation that it was actually Kate left in tears following her daughter's bridesmaid fitting - not Meghan.
