Congratulations are in order to the Duke and Duchess of Westminster, who have announced the birth of their first child!

Billionaire aristocrat Hugh Grosvenor, 34, and his wife Olivia, 32, shared the happy news that they welcomed a baby girl born in London on Sunday (July 27), named Cosima Florence Grosvenor.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the couple said: “The Duke and Duchess of Westminster are thrilled to announce the birth of their baby daughter.

“Both the duchess and Cosima are doing well. The duke and duchess now look forward to spending this special time together as a family.”

For those unfamiliar with who Grosvenor is, he became a billionaire overnight when he inherited his title and control of the historic Grosvenor Estate aged just 25 back in August 2016, after his father died of a heart attack.

As one of the biggest landowners, his property company The Grosvenor Group owns 300 acres of land in London’s Mayfair and Belgravia, as well as Eaton Hall and big city centre developments such as Liverpool’s One shopping centre.

He boasts the title of the richest man in the UK under 40 and his company has investments in more than 60 cities around the world, including part of Silicon Valley in California, US.

But, it seems he’s also a very charitable man with his money, and back In 2020, the duke donated £12.5 million to the UK’s Covid-19 relief effort including funds for NHS Charities Together and for medical research and development.

Grosvenor and his wife Olivia tied the knot last year after being introduced by mutual friends two years ago.

Their wedding, which took place at Chester Cathedral, was a royal event in itself, with none other than Prince William himself taking on the role of usher.

The new dad is a close pal of both William and Prince Harry, and even became godfather to Prince George and also reportedly to Prince Archie, according to People.

And on top of this, Grosvenor is lucky enough to have King Charles III himself as his own godfather.

So, if this trend continues, it’s looking like the Prince of Wales could be in for a shiny new role.

Although nothing has been formally announced, guesses are already rolling in that he could be returning the favour for his lifelong friend - I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

Prior to his relationship with Olivia, Grosvenor was considered to be one of the most eligible bachelors in the UK.

In March, the happy couple announced that they were expecting their first child together with a sweet statement.

At the time, a spokesperson for the couple said: “The Duke and Duchess of Westminster are very pleased to share that the Duchess is expecting a baby in the summer.

“The couple are delighted with the news and are very much looking forward to starting a family together."

Welcome to the world, baby Cosima!
