President Donald Trump has been urged by a conservative think tank to release Prince Harry’s immigration files, alleging that he may have lied about his past.

It has been a busy week for Trump, who was sworn into office on Monday 20 January.

Not only did he go on to quickly sign a number of new declarations, including an employment law turnover, a controversial gender policy and reportedly banning the Pride and Black Lives Matters flags from US government buildings, but he also declassified JFK’s assassination files, leading to the late president’s grandson to hit out.

As per conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation, they believe that Prince Harry allegedly lied about his past, specifically past drug use when emigrating from the UK.

This new outcry regarding Harry confessed in his 2023 tell-all memoir Spare that he had previously taken cocaine, cannabis and psychedelic mushrooms.

The 40-year-old admitted that he tried cocaine for the first time at 17, writing that he wanted ‘to feel different’ after the death of his mother, Princess Diana.

“Of course I had been taking cocaine at that time,” he wrote. “At someone’s house, during a hunting weekend, I was offered a line, and since then I had consumed some more.”

Harry’s immigration status has sparked a legal battle, as well a pledge from Trump during his campaign trail last year, where he swore that he would act against anyone who falsified their status on immigration forms.

Trump revealed in March 2024 said he would ‘have to see’ if the Department of Homeland Security was aware of his drug taking.

“If they know something about the drugs, and if he lied, they’ll have to take appropriate action,” he added.

If anyone was to mislead their history of drugs or lie on their application for a visa or green card, it could end up with their removal from the country.

However, a federal judge has already ruled against disclosing information regarding Harry’s application papers and did so last year.

DC US District Judge Carl Nichols said at the time: “The public does not have a strong interest in disclosure of the duke’s immigration records.”

But that isn’t stopping calls for Trump to release the files.

“I’ll be urging the president to release Prince Harry’s immigration records and the president does have that legal authority to do that,” said Nile Gardiner, of the Heritage’s Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom to The Post.

He added: “It’s important because this is an issue of the rule of law, transparency and accountability. No one should be above the law.

“Donald Trump is ushering in a new era of strict border control enforcement, and you know, Prince Harry should be held fully to account as he has admitted to extensive illegal drug use. My firm expectation is that action will be taken.”

The Heritage Foundation filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security in February, which requested a Freedom of Information Act to Harry’s visa documents.

“Donald Trump is ushering in a new era of strict border control enforcement, and you know, Prince Harry should be held fully to account as he has admitted to extensive illegal drug use,” said Gardiner.

He went on to claim that ‘the Biden administration went to great lengths to try and prevent the release of Harry’s records’, and alleged that they received ‘special treatment’ for being liberals.

Tyla has reached out to the White House and Prince Harry's representatives for comment.
