People think King Charles is ‘trolling’ Donald Trump after fans spot suspicious detail in president’s trip to the UK

The American president will arrive in the UK in September for his second state visit

People are convinced that King Charles III is ‘trolling’ Donald Trump after noticing an important detail about the US president’s upcoming state visit to the UK.

The Republican leader, 79, and his wife Melania, 55, will be hosted by the British Royals from Wednesday 17 September to Friday 19 September 2025.

Their visit will predominantly take place at Windsor Castle, like Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte’s trip did earlier this month, as Buckingham Palace is still being reserviced.

Trump and Melania will spend time with The King, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton for his second state visit to the UK.

The world leader was previously hosted by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2019 during his first term in the White House.

It’s very unusual for a second-term president to get invited back for state visit number two and instead they are usually invited for ‘tea or lunch with the monarch’.

But, another thing that’s suspicious about Trump’s upcoming trip to the other side of the pond, is that there will be no parliament to give a speech to.

The US president will touch down in England just 24 hours after the House of Commons breaks up for the annual party conference season.

This means a joint address from Trump to both the House of Lords and Commons won’t be able to take place as per tradition

In a phone call with the BBC, the Republican simply shrugged this off and said that there is no need to recall parliament and MPs should ‘have a good time’ instead.

Previous presidents who have visited the UK such as Bill Clinton and Barack Obama have given speeches to parliament, as did Emmanuel Macron just last week.

So, with all of this considered, some people have begun to question whether the dates Trump is visiting are a coincidence or not.

One X (formerly Twitter) user penned: “The fact that President Obama was given the opportunity and Donald was denied is really going to grind his gears.”

Meanwhile, a second chimed in with: “Bravo to UK parliament for denying Trump address.”

“Yes. These are very measured and deliberate actions showing that he really is not welcome, and won't be given a lot of the "usual" privileges,” added another.

Another user chimed in with: “Smart move by the UK, let’s see other countries show some balls and do the same.”

Elsewhere over on Reddit, similar theories were being thrown around, while others think it was simply an accident.

Someone quipped: "I love how the King timed the visit right at Parliament recess. His Maj be trolling."

One social media user wrote: “He's not being denied anything, he's visiting during the summer recess. There won't be anyone there.”

Another claimed: “HE picked when HE would come. It’s not our fault he’s an absolute f***nugget and decided to come when everyone is on holiday.”

Someone else penned: “Keeping him as far away from parliament as possible is 100% necessary.

“There is no outcome there that would be good. Most likely he'd be livid at being jeered and retaliate against the UK as a whole, because the man really is that petty and fragile.”
