British monarchy's newest 'eligible bachelor' revealed - and you’ve probably never heard of him

The royal in question would have been Queen Elizabeth’s first cousin twice removed, and still is to King Charles III

If you were under the impression that all of the Royal Family's young Princes were now spoken for, and you'd never get to live out your childhood Princess fantasy, worry not - I have good news for all the age-appropriate girlies out there.

In turns out, that there's a charming royal singleton that's been flying under the radar, despite having celebrated his 18th birthday last month. Now a full-fledged adult, this potential heartbreaker of 18 year olds everywhere is now being dubbed by experts the monarchy's most 'eligible bachelor'.

Most importantly, we're not talking about some faraway duke-in-waiting, or an heir living on a patch of royal land all the way up in the outer Hebrides.

No, this prince is now living right here in the dating hotspot that is London, and has a direct blood connection to the throne.

We are, of course, talking about Albert Windsor.

Yes, Windsor. You know, like William Windsor, Harry Windsor, and even Charles Windsor - a.k.a the current King of England?

But, who is this mystery man, and how exactly is he related to the reigning monarch?

Well, it's actually pretty complicated; let us break it down for you.

  • Albert (born in 2007) is the eldest son of Lord and Lady Nicholas Windsor.
  • Lord Nicholas Windsor (born in 1970) was the youngest son of Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent.
  • Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent (born in 1935) was the son of Prince George.
  • Prince George (born in 1902) was the brother of King George VI.
  • King George VI was the father of Queen Elizabeth II.

To put it simply, young Albert's great-grandfather was the brother of the former King George, and therefore, the uncle of the late Queen.

As such, the 18-year-old would have been Queen Elizabeth’s first cousin twice removed, and still is to King Charles III.

Until recently, Albert remained largely out of public view for two reasons. Firstly, he was going through his vital educational years, and is reportedly considering following in his father's footsteps, and taking on Theology at Oxford University.

Secondly, the youngster grew up in Rome, Italy, with younger brothers Leopold, now 16, and Louis, 11, only making his 'royal debut' in public last month for the London funeral of his grandmother, Katharine, Duchess of Kent.

In snaps that have continued to keep tongues wagging ever since, Albert could be seen attending the sad event in the company of a number of senior royals back in September, including King Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.

And apparently, we could be seeing a lot more of the royal bachelor in the months to come, with Albert allegedly set to have an appearance planned at the Le Bal in Paris.

For anyone unfamiliar with this high-class get-together, the Le Bal is an annual debutante and fashion ball, which is frequented each year by the hottest new names in royal society.
