Rob and Michele Reiner’s son Jake speaks out ‘reality’ of losing both parents in first sit-down interview since their death
Rob and Michele Reiner’s son Jake Reiner has said he's reminded of his parents' deaths 'every moment that I wake up' in his first sit-down interview since they were killed in December 2025.
The pair's shock deaths left Hollywood reeling on 14 December.
Police were called to the home of the famed filmmaker and actor, 78, and photographer, 68, after they were found dead from apparent stab wounds in their home in Brentwood, Los Angeles.
After the horrific news broke, authorities revealed they were investigating the deaths as an 'apparent homicide', but few details were provided to the public.

However, since then, the Reiners' 32-year-old son Nick was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Nick, who pleaded not guilty to murder charges, is scheduled to return to court on 15 September for a hearing.
If convicted as charged, he is up against the possibility of death or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Eight months on, Nick's brother Jake has spoken with KABC-TV’s Mark Cota-Robles about how he's faring since the devastating event.
"My parents had unconditional love for all three of us," he shared in a segment of the interview that aired Thursday (27 August) on Good Morning America.
He continued: "It’s been eight months. It feels like eight years at the same time. And it also feels like eight minutes.
"Because every moment that I wake up, I’m reminded of my reality."
Elsewhere in the interview, Jake reflected on the phone call he received from his sister, Romy, when she first told him what had happened to their parents.
"Romy told me our dad was dead and then she said, 'I can’t find mom,'" he recalled.
Jake was then questioned about previously describing the tragedy as losing more than half of his family, including Nick, adding: "Yeah. I mean, he’s in jail, so...
"You know, it’s [...] I physically lost my parents. And then Nick was arrested. And now it’s me and Romy."
Back in April, Jake opened up about the loss of his parents on Substack in an essay titled 'Mom & Dad'.
"Nothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents instantly at the same time. It’s too devastating to comprehend. I still wake up every morning having to convince myself that, no, it’s not a dream," he shared at the time.
"This truly is my living nightmare."
Jake continued: "We lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable. Sure, any loss of a parent is devastating, but nothing compares to losing both of them at the same time and, on top of that, having your brother be at the centre of it. It’s almost too impossible to process."
He concluded: "What the hell do you say to someone who is living through this reality?
"The truth is, there is nothing to say.
"I just ask for love and compassion - the same principles my parents lived by."
