The age gap between Barron and Kai Trump has got people all types of confused.
There has been so much news about the Trump family since Donald Trump took to office on Monday 20 January, and now there’s even more coming out of the woodwork.
Namely, it’s all about the age gap between Trump’s youngest son, Barron and his granddaughter, Kai.
Since everyone was introduced to Kai during Trump’s 2024 US Presidential campaign run as she appeared in pictures alongside the rest of her family, and Barron became the face of his inauguration after being applauded by the crowd - it’s no surprise that people have been looking into the new president’s family.

However, they got a lot more than they bargained for when they found out just how small of an age gap there is between Barron, and his niece.
That’s right, even though the pair look super young, Barron is in fact Kai’s uncle, as he is Trump’s son, and Kai is the daughter of Don Jr Trump (Barron’s brother).
It’s all a bit confusing, but what social media users have found out is that Barron is 18, and Kai is 17, making for a super ‘awkward’ family line.
X users began talking about the year age gap, and expressing their views on why it’s so strange.
One person wrote: “I just realized that Barron Trump (18) is Kai Trump’s (17) uncle.”
Another stated: “Barron Trump is Kai Trump’s uncle. Think about it.”
Someone else commented: “You know it’s messed up when Barron Trump is Kai Trump’s uncle (they're the same age).”
A fourth wrote: “Barron Trump is Kai Trump's uncle btw,” while a fifth stated: “Barron is Kai Trump's Uncle... And they are basically the same age.”
It’s safe to say that they are all baffled about the usual authority role here, as uncles tend to be a lot older than nieces, and therefore also have a bit more experience at life, knowledge and respect within the family.
I’m not going to lie, but I wouldn’t respect an uncle who is one year older than me.
Anyhoo, apparently, the pair are pretty close and like to pass time together.
Being similar aged, it’s likely that they are interested in the same things.
To show how they spend time together, Kai recently posted a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the inauguration day.
The 17-year-old shared that she and Barron used to play hide and seek inside the White House during Trump's last presidency, stating: “Me, Barron and Donny, we used to play hide and go seek... and also on the front lawn [we] would play soccer.”
Then, when people asked to see a vlog, she said: “A soccer vlog of me and Barron? If you guys want to see that, let me know.”
In her video, she also asked her dad to share a few words.
Don Jr. said: “I love this little smurf. I'm so proud of her. I jumped her yesterday and asked her if she wanted to speak in front of 25,000 people live and she absolutely crushed it.
“Even if, at her age, dads are not cool, I don't care, I love her so much.”
