People are only just realising why Melania Trump's 'scribble' dress looks so familiar after making a pretty bang-on assessment during her husband Donald Trump's inauguration.

On Monday (20 January), Trump and Melania attended a number of balls where she dropped her viral wide-brimmed hat get-up for something a little less bold, but all the while still making a statement.

The first lady opted for a strapless white floor-length gown with featured a geometric black trim and a small slit paired with white heels and a thick, black choker.

The garment in question was reportedly designed by Melania's longtime style advisor, Hervé Pierre, who also made her first inaugural gown.

Now, it didn't take long for hawk-eyed viewers to make the comparison between the design on Melania's dress and Trump's sharpie signature following the executive orders signings.

One X user penned: "Does Melania's dress bear a striking resemblance to Trump's signature on all those EO's today or is it just my imagination?

"The first thing I thought of when I saw Melania's dress was that it looked like Trump's signature," wrote a second while a third echoed: "Melania's dress - specifically the Black ribbon reminds me of the Don's signature swoosh. I wonder if that was part of the intent. Especially with his historic first day of EO's."

Another added: "Melania's 'scribble' dress, reminds me of Trump's signature."

And a final X user declared: "Melania’s dress design was inspired by Trump’s sharpie signature. You can not convince me otherwise."

Elsewhere in the day, Trump made some pretty bizarre comments about Melania’s feet during his post-inauguration speech.

He shared an exchange he had with his wife during the day, saying: "I have a first lady who has been incredible.

"I shouldn't say this. I'm going to get hell when I say this, but her feet are absolutely aching. You know, those heels."

He continued to explain that he and Melania 'thought they were leaving' before someone came up to him and asked him to 'say hello' to some of his other fans.

According to the Trump, Melania said: "Darling, I love you so much, but my feet are killing me."

"I said, 'Honey, let me just see how far it is,'" he continued to recall, explaining he was informed the walk was 'maybe four or 500 yards'.

"That's five football fields," Trump declared. "I said, 'Can you make it?'"

He then revealed exactly what Melania's response was to the situation: "She said, 'We're going to make it. No matter what, we're going to make it because we have to go.'"

The crowd then erupted into a chorus of cheers following the president's anecdote.
