Warning: This article contains discussion of discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community which some readers may find distressing.

JK Rowling issued a blunt response when a fan claimed she is now 'unrecognisable', after supporting Donald Trump's executive order against transgender athletes.

The Harry Potter author has long been known for her controversial views against the LGBTQ+ community, and cemented her standpoint this week after speaking out in support of Trump's new anti-trans order.

The president has wasted no time in signing executive orders since his inauguration on 20 January, and previously declared that the US government would recognise 'only two genders'.

But as expected, the Republican leader, who is also the first convicted felon to assume the presidential role, took things a step further this week, as he signed a highly controversial order, banning transgender athletes from competing on girls' and women's sports teams - denying federal funds for schools that allow it.

Speaking from the White House, Trump declared: "We will defend the proud tradition of female athletes.

"From now on, women’s sports will be only for women.

"The war on women’s sports is over."

Rowling was quick to respond to the ban, posting on X: "Congratulations to every single person on the left who’s been campaigning to destroy women’s and girls’ rights.

"Without you, there’d be no images like this."

But previous fans of her novel series are disappointed by her transphobic views.

One said: "I was a huge fan of your work. You know the one. You won’t be remembered for that.

"You’ll be remembered for the chaotic Internet personality you’ve morphed in to. It’s sad to see.

"I agreed with your initial statements defending women too but you’ve gone so far you’re unrecognisable."

But it seems the loss of support doesn't affect the author, who replied claiming that her 'legacy' isn't something she is bothered about.

In a blunt response, she wrote: "And if they put 'chaotic internet personality' on my tombstone I'll be fine with it, because I'll be dead and either living it up with other TERFs in the afterlife, or totally absent and completely indifferent."

She added: "This 'but your legacy!' cr*p doesn't work on me."

TERFs stands for trans-exclusionary radical feminist, which was first recorded in 2008.

It separates transgender-inclusive feminists from a group of radical feminists, of which Rowling seems to identify with.
