When Elon Musk welcomed his seventh child in 2020, many people were taken aback by the little one's unusual name.

Musk calls his youngest son 'Lil X' but his full name is X Æ A-12. We know what you're thinking - how do you even pronounce that?

Musk's son - who he shares with Canadian musician Grimes - was born in May 2020 and shortly after his birth, Musk spoke about his name and the meaning behind it.

He also explained how to say the unusual name, explaining it's pronounced 'X Ash X Twelve'.

"First of all, my partner's the one that mostly came up with the name," he told Joe Rogan. "I mean it's just X, the letter X, um, and the 'Æ' is pronounced, 'Ash' and then, A-12 is my contribution."

He added that A-12 stands for 'Archangel 12, the precursor to the SR-71, coolest plane ever'.

We can see why Musk opts for X as a nickname.

The four-year-old stole the show at a press conference on Tuesday (11 February) which Musk, a father of 12, attended alongside Trump.

Musk, 53, was at the White House to witness the 78-year-old Republican leader sign an executive order requiring federal agencies to cooperate with the Department of Government Efficiency’s efforts to cut costs after facing pushback last week.

While Musk answered questions from the press, his son seemed to be quite the distraction as he pulled a number of faces and interrupted his father.

At one point during the press conference, the toddler could be seen picking his nose and wiping his bogies on the Resolute Desk - something people rushed to social media to share their reactions to.

One X user penned: "Trump seethes as President Musk's kid eats his boogers then paws his desk."

"I'm watching Elon Musk's son pick his nose, eat boogers and wipe them on the Resolute desk. There's no way this kid is not annoying Trump," added another.

Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, has since spoken about her son attending the Oval Office, explaining she was not aware.

She took to social media to issue a statement on the matter, writing: "He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I'm glad he was polite. Sigh."

The couple dated for four years before eventually deciding to part ways for good two years after X's birth in 2022.

They also share two other children together; Techno Mechanicus, two, as well as daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, three.
