Elon Musk's dad gives surprising 'explanation' for Trump's public feud with son

The Tesla boss and US President have been going at each other for days as the world watches their feud unravel

Elon Musk’s dad Errol Musk has weighed in on the ongoing feud between his tech billionaire son and Donald Trump as he explained what he thinks is the real reason the online spat erupted.

The public battle between the world’s richest man, 53, and the US President, 78, unravelled last week as the pair shared a slew of back-and-forth insults.

Despite Musk donating at least $250 million to Trump’s election campaign and working alongside him for five months as one of his DOGE co-leads, I think it’s safe to say that their friendship is officially over.

For those who aren’t up to speed on the latest developments, it all kicked off shortly after Musk resigned from his role, as his 130 permitted days to work as a government employee were up.

Following his resignation, the tech mogul began publicly criticising the president’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill,’ branding it as a 'disgusting abomination', after noting that it will increase the 'already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion'.

Taking to X, he wrote: "I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore.

“This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it."

And on 5 June, the billionaire wrote on X: "Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files.

"That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!"

While Trump didn't address the accusation, he wrote on Truth Social about the 'truth' of Musk’s departure: "Elon was 'wearing thin', I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!"

Sharing the post on X, in just one of the many angry interactions, Musk replied: "Such an obvious lie. So sad."

However, ABC News reports that after a phone call with the president on 6 June, he was 'remarkably unconcerned' about his argument with Musk.

“You mean the man who has lost his mind?" the outlet shared that Trump allegedly responded, adding that he’s 'not particularly' interested in hashing things out.

And now, as the fiery battle continues and no one seems to be stepping down, Elon’s dad has expressed his concerns.

In an interview with the Russian media, Errol said that his son has ‘PTSD from the White House’ and ‘made a mistake’ by publicly challenging Trump, reports The Independent.

He also blames the monstrous fallout on something as simple as the two being ‘tired and stressed’.

Errol told the Izvestia newspaper: “They are very tired and stressed so you can expect something like this.”

Reuters also reported that Musk's father has called for the dispute to stop and insisted that it will ‘end very soon’.

Amid the ongoing feud, Musk started a poll asking followers if it’s time to create a new political party ‘that actually represents the 80% in the middle’ and 81.9 per cent of users said ‘yes’.

He also unloaded on Trump, accusing him of ingratitude and claiming that he won the election for him.

Meanwhile, Trump posted on Truth Social: "The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it!"

Now, the world is waiting with popcorn at the ready to see when the next insult will be hurled, or whether Musk's dad has it right and the fight could be coming to a halt - either way, there's bound to be a new update soon!
