Donald Trump claimed that without America, Europe wouldn't have won World War II, as he says, 'we're the ones that won the war'.
We all know that the president has made some outrageous claims, whether it's claiming to have invented words in the English language, or being the 'father of IVF' despite also admitting that a female senator once had to 'explain' IVF to him.
But his latest questionable claim was made during his recent four-day trip to the Middle East, where he stood on a stage to address US troops at the Al Udeid Air Base in Dohar, Qatar.

People Magazine reports that Trump was discussing his recent executive order - of which there are a lot - where he plans to dedicate 8 May as a national holiday called 'Victory Day for World War II'.
He then went on to claim that America had done more than any other country to win both World Wars.

He said his decision came after he'd seen other countries celebrating VE Day, which celebrates the end of the war in Europe.

He continued: "I'd call up a certain country and they said, 'oh, we're celebrating the victory of World War Two today, sir'. I speak to one of the presidents or prime ministers or whatever, and they were celebrating the victory of World War two.
"Then I speak to another one, and they were celebrating. And the fact is, Russia was celebrating, France was celebrating, everybody was celebrating but us. And we're the ones that won the war."
During the moment, he seemingly mocked Europe, suggesting in a playful manner that the US 'did a little bit more than France' in securing victory.
He then did an impression of French President, Emmaunel Macron, saying: "Donald, we are celebrating our victory over the Germans'.
“I said, what the hell? Every country I've spoken to in the last week is celebrating the war but us. Isn't that terrible?

The POTUS further claimed that without the US, the entire world 'would be speaking German - maybe a little Japanese too'.
And while it is true that America were part of the Allied Forces, which ultimately led to Germany surrendering, they only declared their intent to join the war in 1941 after Japan's bombing of Pearl Harbour.
As for why the US held off on joining WWII, HistoryExtra says that congress had disagreed with intervening with foreign politics.
However, the reaction to his hot take has been far from supportive.

One person said: "The US was the last country to show up, shame on Trump," while another added: "This is an insult to all of the brave souls who died defending their country."
"We were the very last country to join the allied forces in World War 2, making us the least serving country in the war." one American noted.
