Donald Trump has been called a 'real man' by fans after 'protecting' wife Melania when she stumbled in her heels.

The video, which was captured during Trump's first term as president in 2018, shows the couple walking across the lawn of the White House to a helicopter.

However, Melania - who was wearing a navy coat and brown heeled boots - almost took a tumble.

Luckily, her husband was on hand to hold her up and prevent her from hitting the ground.

Fans in the comments were quick to applaud the Republican leader for 'protecting' his 'elegant and classy' wife.

One said: "Simple a real male protecting his lady."

Another added: "The man is smooth. He caught her in stride and kept going."

Someone else commented: "Very elegant, that could happen to any woman in heels."

But others noted it's probably something any other husband would do.

One viewer wrote: "Omg, he did something normal that anyone would do."

A second joked: "She was trying to run away."

It's likely the first time Trump has seen much praise this week after his awkward confrontation with President Zelenskyy on Friday (28 February).

Trump invited the Ukrainian president to the White House to discuss the Russian invasion of Ukraine and how the countries can arrive at a peace agreement.

But things quickly turned ugly during the discussion, as Zelenskyy was accused of not being thankful enough to America for the resources and funds the country has given Ukraine throughout the conflict.

In a stark warning to the president of Ukraine, Trump said: "You're gambling with millions of people seeing you gambling with World War Three. You're gambling with World War Three."

And his vice president, JD Vance, only made matters worse.

Vance added: "In this entire meeting, have you said thank you?

"You went to Pennsylvania and campaigned for the opposition in October, offer some words of appreciation for the United States of America and the president who's trying to save your country."

Trump was also quick to remind Zelenskyy that people in his country were dying, and that they are 'running low on soldiers'.

Following the controversial meeting, the Ukrainian president took to X to share his gratitude.

Zelenskyy posted: "Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people.

"Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that."
