Body language expert reveals how Donald Trump 'really felt' about being hit by mic despite laughing it off

A human behaviour expert has assessed the viral footage of Donald Trump being clocked by a boom mic over the weekend, and believes they're able to tell how the US president really feels about the embarrassing blunder.

For those out of the loop, the mishap occurred on Friday (14 Mar), just hours after the Republican leader made a speech at the Department of Justice, during which he slammed the media of having been against him since his White House return.

"These networks and these newspapers are really no different than the highly paid political operative," 78-year-old Trump hit out.

"And it has to stop. It has to be illegal. It is influencing judges and it is really changing law and that just cannot be illegal. I don't believe it is legal."

Later that day, whilst chatting to said press at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, a reporter hit him in the face with a boom mic.

The father-of-five immediately responded to the mistake by closing his eyes and leaning away, leading spectators to fear what would come out of his mouth next.

Luckily for the journalist, however, Trump was able to laugh the moment off.

"She just became a big story tonight," he said of the mic operator. "She just made television tonight. Did you see that?"

As we say, a body language expert has since chimed in on the debate as to whether Trump's surprisingly calm reaction was genuine.

Speaking to Tyla on behalf of Prime Casino, Darren Stanton looked closely at the controversial politician's physical reaction, commenting specifically on the 'tightening of his eyebrows' and 'hardening of his eyes' after initially being clocked.

He added of these signs, that they hint at 'someone trying to hold back their rage'.

"Trump displayed a combination of anger, shock and disbelief," Stanton explained.

"It flashed across his face for just a second. He was about to draw breath but then bit his lip, almost biting back the rage. It appeared to be an instinctive reaction coming from a place of anger."

The body language pro continued: "The biting of the lip is a clear sign of someone trying to hold back their rage but then his response shows that he didn’t hold it back massively well. He is a very proud man and it made him look a bit silly."

Concluding his assessment, Stanton continued: "You can also see the tightening of his eyebrows and the hardening of his eyes.

"This shows he was thrown off his train of thought and that the disruption made him very angry."
