Prior to blowing out his 80 candles this weekend, Donald Trump was asked what his birthday wish would be.
His answer has now been deemed pretty ironic.
The US President will bid adieu to his 70s on Sunday (14 Jun), by hosting a series of controversial UFC cage fights at the White House, which will mark both his major milestone and celebrate 250 years of American democracy.
During an Oval Office press conference held last week, while Trump was still 79, the Republican leader took questions from reporters about his family's plans for his big day, as well as what his 80th birthday wish would be.

Following a brief pause, Trump provided an answer which immediately triggered mass backlash online.
"Peace for the world," he replied. "OK? Peace for the world."

Minutes earlier, he accused Iran of failing to support talks for peace across the Middle East and promised to continue strikes against the nation with an eerie statement.
"We hit them hard yesterday, and we’re going to hit them again hard today, in case you miss it, in case you don’t turn on your television set," he said. "And we’ll see what happens with a deal.
"We were really close to a deal, but they keep tapping us along; they keep playing us for suckers.”
The right-wing leader had recently launched a fresh attack on Iran - just over four months after he and Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu triggered a major missile conflict in the Middle East.
According to US Central Command, Trump targeted a number of military sites across the country after vowing he'd be 'attacking them very hard'.

He later told Fox News that 49 Tomahawk missiles had been launched, some landing as close as 40 miles outside of the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The move, he claimed, came in response to Tehran's downing of a US helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump alleged that leaders of Iran had since gotten in touch, asking him to stop the bombs, despite themselves firing a drone attack on bases across Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait.
Trump also vowed, 'We'll bomb the s--t out of them tomorrow night', when asked on Wednesday (10 Jun) how America would respond to Iran failing to accept his latest peace proposal.
Pointing out the irony in his latest birthday wish for peace, one X user hit out: "There's no way in hell we're gonna achieve it with him around."
"Saying that while being one of the most evil humans in existence is crazy," another added.

The hotly debated remark echoed a similar sentiment issued on 1st January, when he claimed his 2026 resolution was also 'world peace'.
Less than a week later, Trump sent troops into Venezuela to capture the country's leader, Nicolás Maduro and his wife in a surprise attack, charging the politician with narcoterrorism.
