After New Jersey senator Cory Booker yesterday broke a world record by delivering a political speech that lasted over 24 hours, many spectators were left with one pretty disturbing question.

The Democratic Party member held a marathon speech on Tuesday (1 Apr), all of which was centred on his resentment for Donald Trump, as well as the Republican president's controversial policies.

Speaking on the Senate floor, the 55-year-old began by announcing plans to discuss the 78-year-old's 'dangerous' administration, claiming he'd continue verbally fighting against the 'business of the United States Senate' for 'as long as I am physically able'.

After hitting out against Trump's views on health care, social security, immigration, education, economics, foreign policy, and freedom of speech in his lengthy declaration, Booker also took aim at his Department of Government Efficiency co-lead Elon Musk.

He slammed the right-wing pair for their 'complete disregard for the rule of law, the Constitution and the needs of the American people'.

The liberal leader's speech started at 7pm on Monday, lasted through the night, and the majority of the following day, drawing to its conclusion just after 8pm on Tuesday.

The impressive lecture lasted a grand total of 25 hours and four minutes, and Booker remained standing the entire time. In doing so, he broke the previous 24 hours and 18 minutes record set by segregationist Strom Thurmond in 1957.

As we say, however, admirers of the left-wing politician have been left with one concerning question regarding Booker's bathroom habits.

"As someone who always has to pee, I cannot stop thinking about how tf he is using the restroom… if he even is??????????" one fan asked on X (formerly Twitter) during the speech.

"Curious how did you hold it in?" another aimed a tweet at him directly: "I mean when ya gotta go to the bathroom ya gotta go!"

A third added: "Awesome job Cory!!!! Nobody, I mean NOBODY be drinking anything in front of him- Seriously- how does he not have to pee?!!!"

A fourth continued: "I am not the only one dying to know if Booker has a diaper to keep him going!"

The question was somewhat answered by Booker's communications director Jeff Giertz, who told NPR towards the end of his speech that the politician was without a diaper (or 'nappy', if you're in the UK), or a catheter.

Afterwards, Booker disclosed that he'd undergone an extreme fasting period in the days prior to the speech, and stopped drinking water 'a long time ago'.

He told press: "I think that had good and bad benefits. I definitely started cramping up from lack of water.

"There's just a lot of tactics I was using to try to make sure that I could stand for that long."

Booker was subsequently seen by attendees wiping away tears and placing his hand over his heart.

He was met with mass applause from the crowd in the minutes after - many members of which rushed to hug him.

Neither Trump nor Musk have yet responded to Booker's speech.
