Donald Trump just issued eerie threat to anyone 'celebrating' Charlie Kirk’s death

Turning Point USA founder and right-wing activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated last week in Utah

Anyone amused by Charlie Kirk's assassination last week will face the wrath of Donald Trump, the Republican leader has warned.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot by a gunman on Wednesday (10 September) while attending an event at Utah Valley University in the presence of over 3,000 people.

Despite being rushed to hospital, Trump confirmed in the hours that followed that the right-wing activist had died.

Since then, politicians from both America's left and right have condemned Kirk's assassination, which police allege was carried out by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.

Trump's Democratic predecessor Joe Biden wrote on Twitter the following day: "There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk's family and loved ones."

JD Vance, the current Republican VP, added: "Now that Charlie is in heaven, I'll ask him to talk to big man directly on behalf of his family, his friends, and the country he loved so dearly. You ran a good race, my friend. We've got it from here."

Barack Obama also wrote: "This kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie's family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children."

Despite this, however, Newsweek reports that a number of social media users have faced disciplinary actions - including loss of employment - for sharing posts that 'celebrate' the father-of-two's demise.

As such, in his latest conversation with the press, Kirk's closest political ally Trump has issued a stern warning to anyone observed continuing with this rhetoric, whether in person or online.

His comments were made after Christopher Landau, the US' Deputy Secretary of State, wrote on Twitter over the weekend: "I want to underscore that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country.

"I have been disgusted to see some on social media praising, rationalising, or making light of the event, and have directed our consular officials to undertake appropriate action. Please feel free to bring such comments by foreigners to my attention."

Speaking to press on Sunday (14 September), Trump went on to say that left-leaning groups specifically would be placed under his watchful eye.

Asked, therefore, if he'd revoke any of these supposedly foreign visas, he replied: "No, we haven't, but we are looking at names. We don't like that. That's not right."

He went on to insist: "We wouldn't celebrate if something happened on their side, and we don't. These are sick people.

"These are really deranged people."

Elsewhere, Trump went on to rant (via The Hill): "If you look at the problem, the problem is on the left. It’s not on the right, like some people like to share the right, the problem we have is on the left."

He continued: "And when you look at the agitator, you look at the scum that speaks so badly of our country, the American flag burnings all over the place, that’s the left. That’s not the right."

Asked to reiterate which specific groups he plans to investigate, the 79-year-old went on to claim: "We’ll see. We’ll be announcing."

He continued: "A lot of the people that you would traditionally say are on the left. They’re already under investigation."

Trump's remarks come amid allegations that a website has been made gathering together all of the information of anyone who 'celebrated' Kirk's death on social media.

The site reportedly plans to 'expose Charlie’s murderers', and features a collection of pictures and screenshots of people who posted comments either apparently 'celebrating' the killing, or negative remarks about Kirk.

It reads: "Is an employee or a student of yours supporting political violence online? Look them up on this website."
