Footage of the moment the Titan Sub imploded has been released, with a clip showing the wife of OceanGate’s CEO recognising something was wrong.
As we approach the two-year anniversary of the OceanGate Titan Sub disaster, new footage shows the moment the submersible imploded was actually caught on film.
The tragic event took place in June 2023, and prompted a four-day rescue search, which ultimately led to the discovery that all five passengers on board had died - including the CEO of OceanGate, Stockton Rush.

Unknowingly, his wife, Wendy Rush, was watching on as the disaster took place, without realising the extent of the catastrophe that had occurred.
Ship footage has been shared with BBC, which captured the haunting sound of the Titan sub imploding.
The unprecedented access was given to them by the US Coast Guard's (USCG) investigation for a documentary titled Implosion: The Titanic Sub Disaster.

During the footage, Wendy can be seen watching over the computer which received messages from the submersible.

When it reached 3,300m deep into the ocean, a noise that was described as a 'door slamming' can be heard.
"What was that bang?" Wendy quickly asked, as she looked blankly at the people around her.
She then received a text message from the sub saying it had dropped two weights - something which seems to have led her to mistakenly thinking the dive was going ahead as expected.

Despite this, USCG have since confirmed that the 'door slam' bang was actually the sound of the submersible imploding.
They also stated that the message must have been sent before the catastrophe occurred, but just took longer for them to receive.
The mission of the Titan Sub was to visit underwater gravesite of the Titanic wreckage, which lies around 12,500ft deep - and tickets were sold for £250,000 each.

It wasn't until the 22 June that it was announced all five passengers had died, after debris was discovered near the wreck.
As well as founder of OceanGate Rush, others on board included British billionaire Hamish Harding, French diver/Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and father and son Shahzada and Suleman Dawood.
The USCG Marine Board of Investigation, have spent the last two years looking into the disastrous failure, and how the submersible was ever allowed to set off on the dangerous expedition.
Implosion: The Titanic Sub Disaster airs on Tuesday 27th May on BBC Two at 9pm. It will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
