A man who lost his wife on their wedding day is now awake and planning her funeral, after he suffered serious injuries from a devastating accident.
Samantha Miller and Aric Hutchinson were supposed to be having the best days of their lives, but Friday 28 April ended in tragedy.
Samantha, 34, was killed just minutes after the couple left their wedding reception, with Aric, 36, left critically injured as a woman allegedly crashed into the golf cart they left their wedding reception in.
Heartbreaking pictures of the newly-weds have been released by the family on a GoFundMe, as the couple are seen laughing and doing a sparkle tunnel just minutes before the devastating crash.
Jamie Komoroski, 25, has been charged with one count of reckless homicide and three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm, and is being held in custody.
It's alleged Komoroski was speeding at 65mph in a 25mph zone behind the wheel of a rented Toyota Camry, and under the influence when the tragedy occurred at Folly Beach, South Carolina.
The newlyweds and two others were riding in the cart when it was hit, travelling over 100 yards and rolling several times before coming to an eventual halt.
Samantha was killed instantly from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash, Charleston County Coroner's Office have confirmed.
On a GoFundMe page set-up by Annette Hutchinson (Aric's mum) to pay for Samantha's funeral cost, an update has been provided.
Annette clarified that Aric suffered 'multiple injuries', including two broken legs, with one having to be surgically repaired.
Alongside that, Aric also suffered 'broken bones in his face which also had to be surgically repaired [and a] broken vertebrae’s in his back, brain bleeds, and numerous cuts with stitches'.
Annette added that Aric is now recovering at home while he comes to terms with the devastating loss of his wife.
She concluded: "Now he is doing the unimaginable of planning Sam’s funeral along with her family."
Aric's brother-in-law Ben Garrett and nephew Brogan were also involved in the accident, with Annette providing an update on their condition too.
"Ben is recovering in the burn unit where he underwent surgery to clean out and redress his severe road rash and open wounds," she said on the GoFundMe.
Ben has also undergone stitches on his face and hands, with him still being in hospital until he is able to put weight on his legs and his wounds start to heal.
As for Brogan, he only suffered minor injuries, with Annette saying 'we truly believe a guardian angel was with him that night'.
