Disneyland employee, 60, dies after tragic golf cart accident whilst working

Bonnye Mavis Lear lost her life as a result of the injuries she sustained

A 60-year-old employee of Disneyland has died following a golf cart accident.

Bonnye Mavis Lear, from Fullerton, California, lost her life as a result of injuries she suffered as a result of falling out of a golf cart while working.

The Anaheim Police Department confirmed that Lear fell out of a moving golf cart and hit her head at Disneyland's California-based theme park on 5 June.

Police added that their first responders arrived at the scene just before 11:30 a.m. local time as a result of "a traffic collision that occurred backstage."

Local news provider ABC7 reported that Lear worked in Club 33, a private dining club in the New Orleans Square of Disneyland.

She had worked at Disneyland for 24 years.

Police added that Lear was found to be in 'grave condition' following the fall and was taken to hospital but succumbed to her injuries two days later on 7 June.

PEOPLE obtained a statement from Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock, who expressed his heartbreak and plans to support Lear's family going forward.

He said: "We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye and offer our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her.

"At this time, we are focused on supporting her family and our cast members through this tragic event and making sure they have the resources they need."

X user @just_ask_danny posted: "I used to work with Bonnye, and she was quite literally the kindest human who worked at the Disneyland Resort. This is truly very sad for her family and fellow Cast at the Club."

Another user, @shandataber, added: "This is so very sad. I didn't know her personally, but so many of my friends and coworkers did. Backstage at Disneyland is a crowded, busy area. Vehicles have a 14mph speed limit, but even a small accident can turn tragic. RIP Bonnye."

Anaheim Police Traffic Detectives continue to investigate the collision.

Ken Potrock, Disneyland Resort President, provided Tyla with the following statement: “We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye, and offer our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her. At this time, we are focused on supporting her family and our cast members through this tragic event and making sure they have the resources they need.”
