David Schwimmer issued a scathing statement to X owner Elon Musk after a series of damaging tweets posted by Kanye West.

The internet is filled with people whose phones should be permanently taken away from them, and one such person who falls under this category is Kanye West.

In case you missed it because you've been focusing on more positive things like Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime performance, over the weekend, West went on a Twitter tirade and posted a series of damaging and offensive tweets - many of which were aimed at the Jewish community, which Schwimmer is apart of.

One tweet read: "Jews are like b*tches you have to keep your b*tches in check," while another said: "I'm never apologising for my Jewish comments."

But the ones that have been dubbed the most 'severe' read: "I love Hitler," and "I'm a Nazi."

Other tweets made the 'Famous' rapper mocked singer Cassie's domestic abuse at the hands of Diddy, who is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn for sex trafficking charges, and used terms that are derogatory to the LGBTQ+ community.

Since Friday (7 February) when he first begun posting, Friends star Schwimmer has pleaded with Twitter's owner Elon Musk to remove West from the platform because of his 'hate-filled, ignorant bile.'

Sharing to his Instagram account, Schwimmer said: "This is so 2022. We can't stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk.

"Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X. That's twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence.

"His sick hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews.

"I don't know what's worse, the fact that he identifies as a Nazi (which implies he wants to exterminate ALL marginalized communities including his own) or the fact that there is not sufficient OUTRAGE to remove and ban him from all social media at this point."

"Silence is complicity."

Comments were turned off under Schwimmer's post, but it seems like his plea to the Tesla owner may have had some impact as Ye's Twitter appears to be deactivated.

Before 'logging out', West tweeted one last time and in read in part: "I'm logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board."

This comes after West's latest controversy after he and his wife, Bianca Censori, showed up to the Grammys and caused a media frenzy for her x-rated look.
