High-profile people who've been named in Epstein emails

Warning: This article contains discussion of child abuse and sexual assault which some readers may find distressing.

Along with a horde of huge-name stars, several highly-powerful individuals have been named in federal documentation linked to the heinous crimes once committed by sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Last month, over 20,000 files were released by the US House Oversight Committee, having previously been submitted by members of Epstein's estate.

In the coming weeks, more documents will be made public following a vote from the Senate, with those in charge having set a deadline of 19 December to share the likes of private emails, flight logs and further court documents.

Also set to be released are 60 pieces of evidence documenting the A-list individuals who visited the late paedophile's private island, where is is understood to have trafficked a number of underage victims.

Which 'celebs' were previously named?

Other celebrities, meanwhile, were briefly named in emails sent between Epstein and his associates - though, in many cases, these mentions were not found to indicate any personal connection to the abuser.

Such was the case for royals like Queen Camilla and the late Princess Diana, as well as musicians like Sir Elton John, Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger and Adele, actor Colin Firth, scientists Steven Hawking and philosopher Richard Dawkins, and footballer David Beckham.

A number of US politicians were also named in a slightly more intimate capacity, including former president Bill Clinton, Health Secretary, Robert F Kennedy Jr, and political advisor Peter Mandelson, who lost his job as the UK's ambassador to the US over his friendship with Epstein earlier this year.

Donald Trump was also named a staggering 1,500 times in the files, mostly in news reports starting from Trump's first presidential campaign - though, he and Epstein enjoyed a friendship for several years.

Have any other 'high-profile people' been named?

As we say, on top of the pop stars, princesses and politicians, a number of other powerful people have been named in emails that took place in the years after Epstein was first listed on the sex offenders register in 2008.

Larry Summers

Former Treasury Secretary & Harvard President, Larry Summers emailed Epstein during this period to ask the media mogul about a romantic relationship he'd hoped to strike up with a female economist described as a 'mentee'.

Dating back to 2018, after the woman asked Summers via email about edits to a research paper, the politician forwarded it to Epstein, writing: "Think no response for awhile probably appropriate, she's already beginning (sic) to sound needy :) nice."

American literature professor at Harvard, who married Summers in 2005, New emailed Epstein a copy to an unnamed event in 2018, also opening up about an upcoming trip she intended to take to Australia.

New also referenced reading Vladimir Nabokov's controversial novel Lolita, about a 30-something married scholar who forms a sexual obsession with a 12-year-old girl.

Lawrence Krauss

In 2017, the physicist emailed Epstein for advice after a BuzzFeed reporter contacted him about sexual harassment allegations he was facing.

Krauss told the paedophile: "I did neck with that woman, but never forced myself on her, and we talked about kissing or going beyond that and decided not to."

In response, Epstein asked if he'd had sex with his accuser, before advising him: "I wouldn't respond. My advice is consistent. Off the record."

Krauss wrote back: "We didn't have sex. Decided it wasn't a good idea."

Steve Bannon

The former White House aide to Trump emailed Epstein in 2018, telling him he'd miss a flight out from Heathrow airport, London.

"There. Is a gulf air that leaves at 950 with a stop in Bahrain. Arrives. 1130," Epstein replied, before Bannon wrote back: "U r an amazing assistant."

Jonathan Farkas

Farkas - husband to Trump's ambassador to Malta - emailed Epstein in 2017 asking his opinion on a woman he was seeing that was not his wife.

The sex offender warns him: "careful she is not trustworthy at ALLL."

Farkas questions, 'A 2 timer?', to which Epstein claims, 'Worse'.

"Jeffrey please help me here is she a hooker," Farkas then asks again, to which Epstein responds: "Alcoholic . drugs. unstable . consumate liar. CAREFUL."

Michael Wolff

In 2016, a week prior to Trump's first electoral victory, journalist Wolff emailed Epstein, telling him he was writing a book about the Republican.

"There's an opportunity to come forward this week and talk about Trump in such a way that could garner you great sympathy and help finish him. Interested?" he asked, though Epstein didn't reply.

He did email Wolff a typo-littered message in 2019 about the federal investigation, telling the reporter, 'there were many girls', and 'the girls retunred (sic) the house multiplie times for 200 dollars for a rub and tug. . no sex . . . some worked in the locak massage parlors, most in thier mid twenties'.

Boris Nikolic

The biotech venture capitalist was first emailed by Epstein in 2010, who asked about a conference, after which Nikolic reveals he recently met Bill Clinton and the former Prince Andrew at a big-name get together.

"I was just flirting with 22 years old hot blond blue eyes mexican chick," Nikolic told him. "It turns out she is with her husband. Did not have chance to check him out. But as we concluded, anything good is rented;)."

Elon Musk

A diary for 2014 reminded Epstein: "Elon Musk to island Dec. 6 (is this still happening?)."

Musk previously branded speculation of a visit to the island 'false', telling Vanity Fair in 2019 that the only time he spent with Epstein was at his Manhattan house 'for about 30 minutes'.

"We did not see anything inappropriate at all, apart from weird art," the tech boss added. "He tried repeatedly to get me to visit his island. I declined."

Kathryn Ruemmler

Goldman Sachs exec and Barack Obama's ex-White House counsellor emailed Epstein in 2018, slamming a number of fellow A-listers.

In one, she sent an article titled, 'How close is Donald Trump to a psychiatric breakdown?'

Epstein wrote back at the time: "Plenty of blame. mostly the feminists."

"Careful, or the pendulum is going to swing hard the other way and feminists will be in charge of everything," Ruemmler wrote back, after which Epstein claimed he was kidding.

"So was I, mostly. :-)" the former counsellor went on to pen, to which the media boss added: "See you at 2 , i ordered sushi for you."
