Chris Watts is one of America's most notorious modern serial killers and now it's emerged that he sent 'racy love letters' while behind bars.

Watts, 37, is currently serving five life sentences for the murder of his wife Shannan, and his two daughters Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, who he smothered, in August 2018.

But despite committing crimes that shocked Colorado and later the world, he has 'dozens' of female admirers.

Watts' horrific murder of his family was covered in the Netflix documentary American Murder: The Family Next Door in 2020.

It detailed his attempts to cover up the murders, as well as his deteriorating relationship with his wife - who was pregnant at the time of her death - after he began an affair with his coworker Nichol Kessinger.

While he will never be free, some of the tributes that female fans have sent include 'racy' letters, and some have even included pictures of themselves in bikinis, the Mirror reports.

One of the letters released by the the district attorney's office read: "In my heart, I know you are a great guy.

"If you do write me back I'd be the happiest girl alive, that's for sure #teamchris #chrisisinnocent #lovehim #socute."

Another woman described Watts as her 'soulmate', while a third sent a bikini picture with a note that read: "I've found myself thinking a lot about you."

Some of the women who have written to Watts have even reportedly asked to visit the killer, who dumped his children's bodies in an oil tank and buried his wife in a shallow grave.

The killer's attempt at an elaborate cover-up was captured on camera.

When Watts eventually confessed to the murders, he claimed that he killed his wife after the pair got into an argument about a divorce and initially tried to blame her for their daughters' deaths too.

However, it was eventually revealed that he allegedly did not want another child at the time of his wife's murder and instead wanted a new start with his mistress.

Kessinger has since claimed she has cut all contact with her former lover who had killed his family to be with her.

And while you would think that Watts is not the type of man that most people find themselves attracted to, it's a well documented fact that some serial killers have admirers - with Charles Manson being another example.

It is believed to be because of a condition known as hybristophilia, which causes people to feel sexually attracted to those who have committed violent crimes, the Mirror reports.

A source told People that he often responds to the women, saying: "He got a lot of letters at first. Many of them are from women who thought he was handsome and felt compassion for him.

"He had nothing better to do, so he wrote them back. And he started having pen pals. A couple of them stood out, and they've kept in contact.

"But then he gets letters from women who want to connect with him, you know, romantically.”
