Amber Heard became a mum and welcomed a baby daughter earlier this year, the actress announced on social media.

The 35-year-old Aquaman star revealed the happy news with a sweet picture of her cradling her daughter on her chest.

The tender picture was accompanied by a caption where Amber revealed her journey towards motherhood started four years ago and said her daughter was born 8th April and has been named Oonagh Paige Heard.

"I'm so excited to share this news with you. Four years ago, I decided to have a child.

"I wanted to do it on my own terms. I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way.

"I hope we arrive at a point in which it's normalised to not want a ring in order to have a crib.

"A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone's business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this.

"My daughter was born on April, 8 2021. Her name is Oonagh Paige Heard.

"She's the beginning of the rest of my life."

Oonagh shares her middle name Paige with Amber's late mum Patricia Paige who passed away last year.

According to US showbiz website Page Six, Oonagh was born with the help of a surrogate. Tyla has contacted Amber Heard's representatives for comment.

Heard's announcement arrives almost five years after the actress split from Johnny Depp after two years of marriage from 2015 to 2017.

Depp sued the publishers of The Sun for releasing a story in 2018 calling him a 'wife beater'. The High Court ruled the use of the term was 'substantially true'.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom began filming three days ago with returning cast members Jason Momoa and Amber Heard among others, which was confirmed in an Instagram post from director James Wan.
