A car has crashed into a primary school building injuring several people.

Police were called just before 10:00am today (6 July) with reports of a car having 'collided with a building' at a primary school on Camp Road, Wimbledon.

Police confirmed 'several people are being treated at the scene,' but haven't said whether those injured are children, adults or a mixture of the two.

The Met Police said in a post to Twitter: "Officers are responding to an incident at a primary school in Camp Road, Wimbledon.

"We were called at 09:54hrs to reports that a car collided with a building at the school. Several people are being treated at the scene.

"We will share further updates when we can."

Police, ambulance and fire brigade personnel are currently attending the scene.

London Ambulance Service and Fire Brigade re-shared the tweet, noting they are both also currently at the scene 'supporting emergency services'.

The Fire Brigade added: "There are two fire engines and two fire rescue units at the scene."

In its latest update on the incident, Merton Police clarified: "We are not treating this incident as terror-related.

"An investigation is under way to understand the full circumstances of what has taken place."
