ASOS customers have received an alarming notification after an alleged 'hacking'.
The push notification, which was sent to ASOS app users earlier this morning (6 October), reads: "ASOS HACKED.
"Dear Asos DPO and IT, we have fully compromised the Snowflake instance. Engage with us, or we will leak it."
DPO stands for data protection officer - the person appointed by a company to oversee the protection of customers’ personal information while Snowflake is a cloud-based data platform used by a wide range of companies.

The alert also included a link to a Telegram chat.
No further details have been confirmed at the time of writing and ASOS is yet to publicly post about the possible cyber attack on its social media accounts.

It is not immediately clear how many customers received the push notification, but it appears to have been sent to a significant number of the app’s users.
After receiving the push notification, many shoppers rushed to social media to share their reactions.
One X user penned: "Anyone else just get a notification from iOS ASOS UK with a message 'ASOS HACKED: We’ve taken over the Snowflake instance…'?"
A second questioned: "ASOS has been hacked???"

A third chimed in: "ASOS hacked? can they just make everything free or something, can the hackers just be for the people for once."
"WTF - ASOS has been hacked?!" exclaimed a fourth as another quipped: "Has ASOS been hacked… this push notification is crazy."
And a final X user echoed: "Did anyone else get that ASOS hacked notification??"
Downdetector, which shows live status updates and outages people are experiencing, saw nearly 500 customers reported issues with the ASOS site shortly before 10am this morning.
Both ASOS' website and app appeared to have functioned properly until 9.41am.
ASOS, which was founded over two decades ago back in 2000, claims to have 17 million customers each year, in more than 150 countries around the world.
The LADbible Media Group has reached out to ASOS for comment.
